Hello,
I have BIAB 2009 and am trying to change the time signature in a song. The verse of the song is in 3/4 and it changes to 4/4 at the chorus. I tried Edit/Set Time Signature, but the time signature will not change to 4/4 and the measures remain in 3/4. I also tried Edit/Settings for Current Bar, and attempted to set 4 beats and change my style from the 3/4 to 4/4 style that I want. This does not work either. I can change to 2/4 time, but not to 4/4. Any ideas as to why this might not be working properly and what I need to do to correct it (hopefully, without having to "start over")?

You need to use F5 and change the number of beats to 4 at the Chorus and then back to 4 at the end. You will find that most 4/4 styles will work well for 3/4 bars and there may be no need to change to a 3/4 style. Try this and see.

Now that's an interesting idea, except my problem is needing 3/4 time from the start of the song to the chorus. Things work fine, changing from 4/4 to 3/4, just not from 3/4 to 4/4.
I did get things to work by setting an initial 4/4 style and changing the number of beats in bar 1 to 3. I then changed to a 3/4 time style in bar 2, so I have the proper "feel" in the playback. Doing this let's me switch back to to 4/4 style at the chorus. The only problem is I do have to re-enter the melody for the verse, as making these changes "bumped" the pickup beat in measure 4 of my introduction to beat 1 of measure 5.

HOWEVER, this is an absurd way to have to approach the problem. BIAB Moderators - Pass along to the developers that this problem should be resolved. Switching time signatures should NEVER be a problem, and a user shouldn't have to go to such convoluted lengths to do such a simple task.

It's been my experience that you cannot change a 3/4 song to a 4/4 section.
My work around is:
1) Assign the 4/4 style as the style the song will be played on
2) On BiaB cell#1, press F5 and change it to the 3/4 style.
Then when you get to the part that needs to be in 4/4, change it back.

BIAB will NOT change to 4/4 if it starts with a 3/4 style. You must start with a 4/4 style, and then you can change to 3/4 and back to 4/4 within the song. I think BIAB is able to take away beats, but not to add beats, so if you start with 3/4, it can't add the extra beat to play 4/4.
I've had problems before with Bob Norton's method, in that depending on when you stop the song, it doesn't reset to the 4/4 when you try to play through again. What I usually do is set the style to 4/4, make the 1st bar silent (or just a drum intro), and then start 3/4 on bar 2. So effectively, my song starts on bar 2 with 3/4, rather than bar 1.
I would say just experiment with it and use what works for you.
You should go to the wish list and ask that this be changed, as you shouldn't need to do thik kind of workaround. However, it's been this way a long, long time.

Yup, and it's been on the wishlist for a loong time by now, too. Any kind of the much cited clumsy workaround botches any reasonable count-in. There is a design flaw inside of the box ...
