Here's a song I wrote for a damaged heart.
Fully arranged in biab. Vocals recorded on my Zoom R8. Mastered through Moises website.
Lovely wife, Jenny on back up harmonies.

https://www.reverbnation.com/brianhendersonward/song/34622123-the-healing-of-love-by-bhward

The Healing Of Love.

Somewhere somebody done you wrong
You've carried that too long
Can't you see what's written on the sign
Telling you now is the time.

I'm talking 'bout love
Talking 'bout healing
Let's talk about love
The healing of love

There ain't no healing in the passing of time
So don't fall for that old line
Something here's just gotta be addressed
Only one way to find any rest

I'm talking 'bout love
Talking 'bout healing
Let's talk about love
The healing of love

It's gonna set you free
Don't let the darkness hold you down
Little light come stealing
A spark of healing
Can lift you up and turn you around
It'll turn you 'round
Baby

You can't learn to live without pain
But maybe you can learn to live
Thaw out your heart for love again
And your heart will have something to give

I'm talking 'bout love
Talking 'bout healing
Let's talk about love
The healing of love

If you would like to see some of my workflow on this song you can watch my youtube video that attempts to share my biab learning curve.

The tune, backing, lyrics and vocals all fit together very nicely. It conveys a message that many could relate to (and maybe even learn from). Well done.

Nice to meet a fellow Aussie here.
Thank you Ghostgum for taking the time to listen and comment. I really do appreciate it.
I will return the time investment in the coming days.

Brian, great song! Nice write and super vocals by you and Jenny. Those BGVs in the last section are sublime. Very good BiaB backing, and the arrangement does a nice job keeping the song moving. Super job!

I quite like the ZOOM R series...I have a 16 and it's quite useful though not my main interface.
Good voice, Jenny does a sterling job too.

My only nits are:
The use of idioms like "done you wrong"...but I'm old and prefer using to avoid such things.
The BABY before the solo might need a look at - not sure if it's just the level or has some pitch issue as well.
The squelchy electric guitar.

Your voice reminds me of Mike Rudd...that's a good thing.
Cool stuff

Hi rayc.
I understand that using less than proper English can be grating, however "There Is not any sunshine when she's not here"
doesn't have the same appeal.
The Zoom R8 has been my god send to getting back into recording. I will upskill into using a DAW soon.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
Warm regards

Brian

Hi DC Ron.

Thanks for listening. I'm glad you enjoyed the song. It took a while to get it working. I've been working on it for several weeks.

Kind regards
Brian

Brian,

Nice impassioned vocals.
Good use of BIAB.

There is tremendous rhythm/cadence in your combination of lyric and melody.
Few songwriters get to the point where they understand and incorporate that into their attempts .
That makes the way this song SINGS one of its strength - maybe The most important.
By the end it becomes real Earworm.
Kudos.

Hi Brian,

Another great song from you! I like everything about it. Jenny's vocal contribution is spot on. You have a very good understanding of how to get the best from BIAB. I like this one a lot!

Hi, Brian.

Lots of stuff to love - your vocals, your wife's harmonies, the arrangement, the mix. Great stuff!

High energy, catchy chorus.

Not a fan of the "squelchy" guitar (to borrow Ray's word), but you know what you want in the tune, so I expect zero cares will be given about that. wink

Super special production, Brian. Jenny is the best partner for sure. Excellent vocals, and lyrics are so well placed in an exciting melody. Very engaging. Now I gotta get to your YT.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I've received a mixed response to that guitar part, I've just put it up on a songwriters group asking for opinions on it.

Thanks for your input.
