Hi folks.
This is the first mix and I'm not sure about it at this point.
I appreciate any advice and opinions. TIA.

"The Fonzi Song" by Brian H Ward.

They say the grass is greener on the other side
That's coz it rains all night
They say you can run but you can't hide
It's true and I know coz I tried

Then they tell you history never repeats
While your watching it on TV
You are what you eat
You're beautiful, Mc-beautiful and complete

CH
I went to Fonzi for advice
He told me Potsie was selling ice
These are the days of our lives
Bold and beautiful, bold and beautiful lies

I'm feeling heavy like the sky above
You were my aeroplane
We all come crashing into mountains of love
Now we're wounded in a rocky terrain

CH
I went to Fonzi for advice
He told me Potsie was selling ice
These are the days of our lives
Bold and beautiful, bold and beautiful lies

They say the darkest hour comes just before dawn
That's coz the blinds are drawn
They say that curiosity is out killing cats
Well we better look into that.

These happy days are yours and,

CH
I went to Fonzi for advice
He told me Potsie was selling ice
These are the days of our lives
Bold and beautiful, bold and beautiful lies.

Songwriting punctuates our lives. It is alchemy, turning pain into gold.

Hey, Brian. Love the cool, hypnotic vibe and that repeating horn figure. Really nice harmonic movement and melody, and great vocals, too. Lyrics sound offbeat and interesting but can't make them all out enough to have an opinion. If "Potsie was selling ice" is in there that's quite a lyric indeed. May have more after credits/lyrics posted...

Hey DC Ron.
The lyrics are indeed "Potsie was selling Ice" I'm not sure what inspired this song other than the unusual intonation and wanting to say something about the diminishing American dream..

Hi Greg.
I had a lot of fun writing this song.
The whole arrangement was built and mixed using only the BIAB interface. I then exported it to my Zoom R8 and sung in the vocals and added keyboard trumpet. Aside from reverb, I didn't use any other processes. Finally I mastered it via Moises AI mastering tools.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
Regards
Brian.

Brian, thanks for posting the details. Those are some super lyrics. "Mc-beautiful" is the best new word I've heard in forever. That's quite a BiaB production, and the keyboard trumpet is a catchy add.

FWIW, you left out this lyrics before the last chorus...

"These Happy Days are yours..."

I mention it because it wraps a ribbon around the Fonzi/Potsie theme.

Love your song!

Your voice sounds a lot like Mike Rudd. Cool.
The only thing I'd draw your attention to is the trumpet: in that phrase it repeats - the 2nd note seems odd - possibly the duration or accent of it...makes it clear it's a keyboard I suppose.
Otherwise a sad, cynical observation well performed.

Cheers

I think my favorite line is "You're beautiful, Mc-beautiful and complete." Somehow in so few words, you've managed to say so much.

Excellent lyrics, and the arrangement works so well. Well sung, and a fun feel with a cool bouncing melody to move it all along with just the perfect amount of dynamics. I have no advice to make it better, Brian. I like it just the way it is, especially that acoustic guitar and piano-played trunpet. Well done.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I agree with Marty. Very strong vocal and super lyrics.
Great arrangement!
As an x-leather jacket wearer, cig smoking, beer drinking (I still do some of that) greaser I approve of this song.
Loved it.

Thanks everyone.

I've taken advice from various folks here and on social media and updated the mix of this song.
It involved a some tweaking of the BIAB mix and a little vocal correction.
I think it sounds better. I will sit on it for a week or two and see how it feels after a break from it.

Regards
Brian

Hi, Brian.

Excellent work - all the elements of the song works, and the trumpet hook is a nice touch.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks, I really appreciate that you took the time to listen and comment.
My lovely wife Jenny composed and played the trumpet part on a cheap toy keyboard that had a better trumpet sound than my Yamaha arranger keyboard.
Regards
Brian.

Now that's a song that didn't jump the shark.

Cool sound overall. I love that trumpet. It the sweet frosting on a great song and production.
