I am not positive but I do think it works offline. Correct, the stem splitting is a local process. There's definitely some kind of problem here, opening a file within certian folders produces several error messages, while moving the same file to a blank folder and then opening it with the Stem player works OK.
Don't really have time / energy to investigate further to try to isolate the problem, just leaving the info here in case someone wants. Most likely the original folder has some sort of permissions restriction - the only way I was able to duplicate this is by removing write privileges from the folder containing my audio. Either way, if you run into this issue again, the best way to proceed is to move the file to somewhere with full permissions, such as your Desktop.
