"If it can be done in RB, why not in BIAB? "
RealBand has everything Biab users are always asking for in Biab, so is that why Biab is being made more into a DAW rather than leaving it as auto accompaniment for learning and on stage use ?
The only reason RealBand didn't take off is because when Biab users went to try it the tracks took ages to generate up each time they made a change as it has to use bbw2 in the background to generate then render to wav.
If RealBand would now use direct play from disk (same as BB Plugin) with non destructive editing, it would be way, way ahead of Biab.
It would of been better before they started making a Mac version to of moved the Biab generate code into RealBand first and made that crossplatform.
No one seems to stop and think, is it going in the right direction, is this what's best for the long term, or should we just go off half cocked ?
If it needs so many new features every year to sell, where will it be in 20-30 years from now, will they still be spending 6 months on Win then 6 months on Mac still ?

What do you see as the future ?

Actually, FWIW, the reason I didn't use RealBand is that I'd just bought BiaB for practice and learning and it was complicated enough without learning a DAW as well.

That is the million dollar question and one that I don't understand!

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

for me several times a year i test out various daws eg recently and also the bb plugin and go back to rb. for me i dont see the point of useing the bb plugin cos i lose functionality.
eg i cant edit in it like i can in rb.

i think re rb for some people its 'oh goodness i gotta learn another app'.
yet if one knows bb imho this gives one a base
to be up and running fast with rb.

i really like the new bb fab tracks view but i cant do the type of editing in it i can do in rb tracks view.

ive been requesting for some time that new bb tracks view have daw like audio/midi editing and be a musos 'work centre'...and thus i woud prolly use bb more. but its rb tracks view and various
nice and in some cases unique features in rb that always bring me back to it.

merry x.

om

my songs....mixed for good earbuds...(fyi..my vocs on all songs..)

This is the speed I get in BB & RB for 5 tracks 96 bars:

SGU-Demo-all-mixer-tracks-255-bars-Biab-frozen.zip you can also try this in the Plugin Standalone, after generating "Save State" then "Load State" and it will load and play instantly.
This is the load speed of a frozen SGU 255 bars all tracks, Biab, Reaper loading flac files (RealBand is still trying to open):

This is the latest videos I found

You need more up to date comprehensive videos, creating songs from start to finish, there should be videos for the Plugin Standalone, where you can find it, show it's many uses, saving with "Save State" for set lists, creating up songs using all the features, using wav instructions only.....
Maybe it shouldn't be promoted until the generate code is inside the JUCE Plugin/Plugin Standalone, making it unique and truly crossplattform. enabling an iPad version and even a Linux version. Look at the way Logic Pro for iPad is going with chord track and instruments along with Toontracks, NI etc..
PG have to best session instruments but they need to play catch up with their interfaces, the Plugin/Plugin Standalone is the best way to go for this. It's great now with FLAC, but why not 24bit 48khz ??? it's like it's designed to be behind all the time when it's such an easy step if you are selling it to a DAW market frown

All I see now is a dwindling forum with a few users.
"What do you see as the future ?" like if Apple or Elon took over PG what would you see ?
How do you get a whole new DAW only user base ? make a high quality, reliable, independent (without old bbw4), easy to use product !

Please stop developing new features.

Your new features are often accompanied by new problems. And it seems that they never improve, or improve after a year. But new features that are not used immediately come up, which bring new problems.

In fact, in my opinion, the core value of BIAB is to input chords and play music. The biggest advantage of BIAB is its simplicity and convenience, a large number of RealTracks, and many music styles.

Through BIAB, I became familiar with chord knowledge and established a sense of chord listening. When I hear a song, I immediately input chords and get a similar feeling. I am very happy and it builds my confidence. I can even create songs myself. But BIAB cannot be too detailed, because I definitely complete the details of music in DAW.

In my extensive use, I found that BIAB's RealTrack should be the most helpful at present. Although other companies have a large number of VSTs, the sound is fake and not as good as BIAB's RealTrack. I still hope that BIAB can classify RealTrack. It does not mean that there is no need for classification just because it can be searched. This view is wrong. Windows can also search, so does it mean that we don't need to classify files or folders?

After classifying realtrack, we can easily insert different realtracks. For example, after writing the beginning and chorus of a song, we can choose which realtrack is suitable for use. If we do these well and continue to release a large number of realtrack expansion packs, BIAB will have won over other DAWs.

If BIAB is made into a DAW, I don't think anyone will use it. After all, everyone knows that DAWs such as CUBASE and STUDIO ONE are too convenient.

Pgmusic.com should stop adding the features that's users did not ask for.
Fix bugs.
Redesign ui for easy of use:
remove features that's unused by most users
Better Work flow design

You suggestion is not isolated. Many users have requested similar.

For those that want a simple to use lite version of Biab without a million and 1 added functions and AI stuff, this is something to focus development on to get things right this time around, with top session players rather than AI, use you own God given Divine Inspiration/Intelligence/Creativity.
Standalone Plugin version C:\bb\BBPlugin\Files\Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Standalone.exe

This year has the biggest improvement so far with instant generate/play, this allows now for a Live Arranger version.
Any project can be "Save State" then "Load State" and it will instantly load and play allowing it to be used live with saved set lists.
Moving the generate code into the crossplatform JUCE Plugin and Track Edit View can be added to give everything you need to work non destructively in any DAW without a hard drive full of wav renders, with an iPad version as well, more users need to get out of the 90's and onboard, see the potential as I won't be around here forever:
