It was one of those " you have a threat, click here and clean up it up" deals.

Where the problem started i believe is that she has a habit of browsing out of here e-mail. She will open a incoming e-mail and it will have cool ads and stuff like that she is interested in and she will search out of that link.

Well, if the threat alert didn't come from the antivirus software that you have installed on your machine, sad to say, you probably didn't have a virus until you "clicked here" to clean it up. My brother-in-law is contantly falling for that no matter how many times I've warned him against it. He browses to websites that have that message pop up that says a virus has been detected. The message is actually something that is programed into the website and not comping from your antivirus software. The best thing to do is hit alt-ctrl-delete and close your browser from the task manager. Trying to nagagate away is usually unsucessful and clicking on the offer to "clean up" your machine is what actually infects you. Then the website quite often wants to sell you something else to clean it up.

i recently moved my outlook mail from my old work computer to a new one using the same proceedure that Andrew outlined.
