Whenever BiaB starts doing something that it is not supposed to be doing and repeats that bad thing, the first thing I try is a Reboot of the computer. Get all those bits back where they belong.

If that doesn't work, then I try Options -> Return to Factory Settings and hit the first button there inside BiaB.

And if that doesn't brring joy, I go back to the above menu item and try the second button down, which resets everything that the first button resets plus resets the MIDI synth choice and the Audio card setup.

BiaB writes to certain files when it opens and when it closes properly. If, for some reason, BiaB freezes, crashes or exhibits some other situation where the chance to properly write to those files and close them happens, those files can become corrupted. Return to Factory Settings often solves that problem in one button push by redoig those files from the default settings.

Good luck,
