Grooving at the Holiday Inn

Circa the late 1960's.
Place, the jazz lounge at the Holiday Inn
Band, Mario and His Mystical Merry Music Makers

I did this just for the fun of it.

BiaB style - Jazz Rock 16th Quartet w/Elect
Tempo - 100 BPM

I deleted the guitar and string tracks
Bass- Ample Bass - JII
Piano - Lounge Lizard - tine based - 12 Warm Model V
Drums - RD from style

I am playing my Jay Turser Jazz box guitar and via my breath and keyboard controllers the Swam Tenor Sax.

As always all comments are welcomed.

Next stop Howard Johnson's! I feel like I am in the middle of a period piece. I can see ladies with bouffant hairdos sitting in a haze of cigarette smoke. You've got a knack for putting it all together. The sax solo is notable and brilliantly understated.

Love the Swami working out on tenor, gets my attention every time. Sitting back with a Tom Collins and a pack of Luckies, thinking about that gal who got away.

Mario,

Wow! No one does these period pieces like you. You completely put the listener in the scene. Love the sax and awesome mix.

A new favorite!

Mario,
Super smooth tune. Love guitar work, such a cool tone and fx! Good job on wind controller. To my taste sax needs a bit more body..., bass? I know little about the subject to give meaningful suggestion. Overall listens very well and mix is clear. Fun title. I attended a few concerts that were staged at local motels / hotels fairly recently smile Thank you for sharing.

Enjoyed my return visit to Marty's musical time machine. That's a fun BiaB bass track, and your guitar and breath controller work are super nice over the changes. Love the middle eight section, too. Very cool!

Thanx so much. I remember those smoke filled lounges. I had to have my asthma inhalers ready at all times!

Thanx Bob. I quit thinking about the girls that got away when I found one that wouldn't run away!

Thanx Bob I'm glad you liked it. I try to set the stage for the listener by posting what I was thinking as I composing. Sometimes it works!

Misha.

Thanx so much Misha for this wonderful review. The live music scene around here is all but dead; it's all DJs and Karioke.

I always look forward to your dreamlike atmospheric pieces. Aside: whenever I think of you I think of Aimee Mann's "Pavlov's Bell". You could call your fictional band "The Oh, Marios!" smile

Hi, Mario.

Makes for nice background music. I thought the sax was a touch distant in the mix. If only tenor sax players could play that quietly. laugh

For a moment, I was a bit sad about the loss of lounge music, but your comment about your inhaler fixed that. wink

Thanx Chay. I had not heard of Aimee Mann so I looked her up. That is a great song. I'll think about remaining the band's name!

Thanx David. I did have to beat that saxophonist in to playing quietly, they are almost as bad a guitarist when it comes to volume shocked

I don't miss those smokey bars or lounges at all!

Great sounds from an outstanding band. Man, I wish they played in a Holiday Inn near me. Mario is surely the guitarist because he steals the show with superb playing. And Swam(i) the Saxman is a fine treat as one of the front men in this grea mystical group.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanx Laurent. I also love the sound of a good EP. The bass credit goes to PGM as it is their bass track.
