Latest RB upgrade. 2.4 proc, 512 RAM (should not be an issue), XP3.

Tried to convert my vocal mono track to midi. At 49% received floating point overflow. This same thing happened when my computer was a PIII @ 256 RAM. Seems nothing's changed.

Any idea what's happening? What am I doing wrong.

Consolidate the track and try again.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hi Ian,

Same error with me.
Fails around about the 68% to 77% mark here.
Using the latest Realband update.

Best regards

The audio track is consolidated.
I have also tried this with PT12, as well as RB most recent. The conversion stops at 49%. I have tried different midi channels - doesn't matter. It freezes. Floating Point Overflow. The progress window won't respond to its own <cancel>. But if you click on the main window <cancel> it all goes away.

I have been having this problem for many years with PT and have never gotten it to work properly.

I'm trying to convert my voice to midi - maybe it's too atonal.

Works here. The end results aren't worth anything though. Did you first rt click on the track and choose"select whole track"?

Something just occurred to me.
My midi synth is an external, as opposed to internal. Michee is your synth internal??

That wouldn't affect the creation of the midi track.

Do you use it with your voice John?

I've tried "select whole", "from-thru", "consolidate".

Can you think of a "preference" I may not have clicked?

tried it with my voice. I've never used it before this. Don't know anything else. I didn't find it to be useful though.

If I have some time tonight after work, I'll try to play with this some. It seems to me that it would probably be best to sing the song with just something like "la la la la la" or "da da da da da da", so the different words aren't getting in the way of distinguishing the pitches (but I could be wrong).

Hi Ian,

Yes I have an outboard sound module (Korg 05R/W) and the internal TTS-1.
I have tried them both with the same result.

I wonder if the version of Realband makes a difference.
I am using 2010.5 (2)
Maybe earlier versions work?

Regards
Michee

A while back I had a similar problem with converting a 2 minute vocal track and gave up.
However, I was successful recently with just a 16 bar vocal track. Maybe piecemeal could work for you.

You might try invoking a DXi synth and then see what it does.

I've seen - and reported - stranger things than this one, turned out to work with the
dxi synth but not so much with external.

Thanks for the input guys.

I've been giving RB a workout with stuff I used to do in PT12. Weird things going on in RB. Trying to get used to it because of RT's regeneration. Lyric entry - Tab advance not working on and off, no audio to midi conversion, BB Toolbar resetting the number of bars by itself. Let's call'em glitches.

Hi

Any cure for glitches i seem to have a touch of the nasties with them and they have a habit of changing just as you get to grips with the ones you got,i never had them before but in the last 12 month they are rife, sorry to bore you

Conversion solved.
E-mail from Support pointed out my short comings. I was just clicking on the track. Apparently you have to highlight the whole track, it's not enough to just click on it.
Tried it and it now works without a floating point error. Give it a shot.

Cheers - Ian

Seems to me that if the pitch to midi command requires selecting the whole track, that the command itself should perform a "select all" of the selected track before processing it. It probably should save the current from-to settings, select all, perform the conversion, then re-instate your previous from-to settings. But I would think the program should do that for you.

Wish list time?

It seems to me you are correct John. That's what I always thought. I've noticed a similar problem when regenerating the RTs in RB. It's not enough to just click on the track where you want the RT. But if you have a residual time in the From-Thru you only get a partial regeneration.
The conversion method suggestion was
Quote:

You need to drag across the audio to select it so that the actual wave form within the track is highlighted in black

Seems resting the cursor on the track number should do it.
