I just listened to a headline that Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys has died at age 82.
So sad, a true genius has left us.

My first concert when I was ten was The Beach Boys at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, sixty-one years ago. It was years before I learned that those shows were included on the Concert album. Brian looked and sounded so cool rocking that Fender bass that I was inspired to learn. I got to meet him through his long-time associate, Jeffery Foskett, with whom I went to high school.

When I was a kid, all the guys were in the water, surfing, I was at the "Beach Burger", where all the girls were, playing music.  Surfin' Safari and 409 were in the playlist and the bikinis fueled my adolescent dreams. IMO, Brian was one of the musical geniuses of our generation. RIP, Brian, and thanks for the good vibrations.

I agree with Notes in that "Brian was one of the musical geniuses of our generation".
RIP Brian.

I must have seen the Beach Boys live at least a half dozen times in my youth with my buddies and our girlfriends.

Interestingly, when Jeffrey Foskett passed a few months ago (Brian Wilson was the one who notified the world), there were condolences and remembrances on high school reunion sites but not much chatter otherwise. Now that Brian is gone, we who were Jeff’s friends have been texting and calling each other and reminiscing about both of them. Lots of us had been put on guest lists, VIP packages and the like, meeting Brian and the others in the process. I am catching up with old friends and bandmates, some of whom I’ve not seen in over 50 years. This was most unexpected.
