Midi is confusing. Load up one of your old songs that play properly and study not just the midi channels but everything about each track. Look at the stuff that opens up when you right click over the track name, the area that opens up when you hit the little down icon in the lower left of the track name area, the "edit Dxi" window that opens up when you hit that button, all of it. Then, when you're done with that, open up the piano roll window, and all the other windows like the mixer, the midi monitor, the bars window (my favorite for copying and moving whole sections of a tune around), the audio edit window and anything else that has a cool looking icon. Real Band is very powerful once you get the hang of it.
