The fills are wonderful, but Steve Cropper's solo is absolutely breathtaking. If you are able to listen to "Baby Blue" on the finest equipment, you will be astonished at the nuance, and the air. My second favorite guitar solo, in a lifetime of listening. Alas, this is an mp3.
Cropper's best known for his amazing songs. "Last Night" (Markeys), as brilliant as it was, was just a tease. As Sam (Sam and Dave) said on Cropper's "Soul Man", "Play it Steve!"
"Baby Blue" is compelling evidence that he was also one of the greatest guitarists ever.
