I think it's great, superb guitar and bass, excellent vocals. One detail: I find the snare drum a little shimmery; I would have made it a bit drier. Nice work. Laurent

Admit it, that's a trick question to get us to listen to your song That's a really good song, full of energy and with a very catchy chorus. Just this tremolo guitar and how you use the synth pad alone make it already worth listening to. Excellent! If you _really_ insist of having a nitpicking feedback, it would be the tremolo guitar (which, together with the vocals, is actually the best part of this song), but it has to fight too much with the drums, bass, and vocals in the center. I wouldn't put the tremolo directly on the guitar, but rather send the guitar sound to an FX channel where the tremolo is added, and pan the guitar to 1 o'clock and the FX channel with the tremolo to 11 o'clock (or even a bit wider). The FX channel probably needs a delay (approx. 30 ms) and some EQ to improve the separation of the two channels. But that's really nitpicking because you asked for it

Yes, different from your other post, but cool and delightful nonetheless. Such a dreamy sonic pleasure. Good choice keeping that guitar in there.

Very excellent, gritty rocking cruiser! Great production in all respects, including the vocals. Re the lyrics, I've never been in that scenario with a woman, but "Even though that’s not remotely what I said" definitely pertains to male 'friends' I'd categorise as 'mostly positive acquaintances' who one way or another always felt they had to compete with me. Being misquoted or mis-paraphrased is a real pain in the butt! Thanks, Chay. Yeah, no doubt the issue of miscommunicating is amplified by today's culture of oversharing. Glad you liked the tune!

Ron,
Great/Awesome/Super!! The sound is off the charts good! The effects you mentioned in the description have certainly done their job in the intended way! This sounds like a lost George Harrison track from the Revolver era! Enjoyed it! Take care, TB

Ron, R.W.'s lyrics are always So interesting (and original). You do an amazing job of bringing them to life (melody/music/vocal) Y'all (you) have become one of my favorite bands... LOVE your guitar track. It's the kind of "little touch" that makes a hit. Producer. The synth pad worked SO well. So "integrated". It thrilled me every time it came around Love the drop. Well done! I listened 3 times on monitors, then 3 more with earbuds. No discomfort. The vocal has a "just right" hurt to it. I think it was a trick question - to get more listens I enjoyed every one of them. fj Floyd, THANK YOU for the (too many) listens and supportive review. Glad you did not find any discomfort while listening. I LIKE the way the mix sounds, I just think it just sounds so DIFFERENT that I perceive that it must need something. Good to hear so many positive supporting reviews like yours. Maybe I'll get over it. That pad turned out as a nice dynamic lift, and I like the way the vocals and lead guitar cut through it. THANKS for noticing!

Hi Ron,
This is excellent! You've really pulled out all the stops with the one. I really love the production. It suits the mood of the song perfectly. Everything about this is a perfect fit as far as my ears can hear. There is nothing I would change.
--Noel Thank you, Noel! Thought I might have pulled out a stop or two too many. Ha! Yeah, great song Ron. Great playing, choice of tracks and vocals. I enjoy songs which are a little bit different and are stylistically different, this meets that criteria. Really enjoyed my listen.
Great work. THANKS, Lee! I've been "a little bit different" all my life, though not always in the most flattering way. Glad you enjoyed the tune!

It seems that the title of the song is not very unique, but the lyrics and the music definitely are Great sound and mix, the tremolo guitar works very well, true trademark of the song. The bottom is solid and tightly focused, you can really enjoy the bass in its full glory. Lyrics go again deep into relationship conversation drama, although I cannot decide who's the winner, but the main character seems to be almost on the ropes Enjoyed the vocals also. To quote Mario, "Yes yes yes yes", another pop rock pearl, soundwise bit different but in a very good way. Janne Janne, THANKS so much! Sadly, in relationship drama, there are often only losers. Glad you liked the tune!

I'll go back and listen more closely to the snare. I was going for a crisp THWACK but may have overbaked it. Appreciate the listen!

Yes, yes, yes, yes, we really like it! - Fine lyric - Your always good vocal - Great session group and your guitar fills too It has a the Boz Scaggs vibe to us. The mix is great and a real surprise, before listening, was the SC waveform. It appears to be slammed to the ceiling. Yet it has good dynamics. One of the many mixing mysteries. Perhaps the Waves thing. Excellent all around and we enjoyed it! J&B

But that's really nitpicking because you asked for it B.D., THANK YOU for the listen and for making me smile. No, this wasn't a trick, but I'm beginning to understand that I need to continue to grow as a listener, and the feedback from this post is helping me with that. The mix still sounds a bit wonky to me though. Your comment on the tremolo guitar is absolutely valid and in line with what I originally planned to do. But after recording the scratch track, I became enamored with how musical the improvised take sounded, and how well it served the song, even though it was (and still is) very, VERY raw. I don't get that on every single guitar take, so I decided to embrace it. What you're hearing is the stereo take from the modeling amp panned slightly left with a stereo delay/reverb to spread the sound a LITTLE across the stereo field. Not perfect by your standards or mine, but...gosh, I still like it a lot. Go figure. I've made a note on your FX chain recommendations for future reference.

Hi, Ron. I don't have the ears to make any useful mix suggestions. Love the song! With the bass and guitars, it sounds a bit like psychedelic rock. I'd loved to hear full backing harmonies on the chorus in true 60's style, but that's not really your jam.

Very fun, Ron. Good mix. The lyrics made me laugh! Nice one. Thanks, Paul. Sometimes I forget that, yes, the lyrics do describe a bad situation with a wry humor. The first time I looked at the lyrics, I recall thinking I'd never make a song out of THIS. But...here we are. Appreciate the listen! Yes, different from your other post, but cool and delightful nonetheless. Such a dreamy sonic pleasure. Good choice keeping that guitar in there. Thank you, Scott. "Dreamy sonic pleasure" sounds like it might be naughty, but I think it's nice. 'Tis the season, you know!

Have uploaded a new version based on input received, so any listens to the link in the original post from this point forward will be of a significantly different mix. Details are at the top of the original post. Better, I think, but that's not my call, is it? No NO no no...

Ron,
It's a great rock song. The guitar riff is amazing. It really has the vibe of British rock groups like the Rolling Stones. Your vocals are also great. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
