Hi Ron,
I can only agree with everyone here. A sad, yet beautiful song. Serene in a way. Your vocals shine so good here , also the bgv. Very well done! Wishing you a wonderful New Year's Eve! Preferably with Marie...

Well done Ron,
A song that is relevant today, yesterday and tomorrow. Lyrically, it's perfect and your vocals were really excellent and drove the songs message home. It's one of those songs that has a message every generation should hear.
Great stuff, all the best for 2026. Kind regards THANKS, Lee. I obviously have a very warm spot in my heart for this song as well. Hope you had a great New Year! That was a surprise. I was expecting your patented power-pop sound, but instead I heard a delightful acoustic folk song. Excellent through and through. THANK YOU, Scott. Hopefully 2026 will bring more (happy) surprises for all of us. Happy New Year!

Ron,
Excellent work all around......writing, production and performance! Great job on the vocals! It's reminiscent of some of the 70's folk rock classics in style and substance!
Thanks, TB

The strangest song title of the year, but I like it (Marie and revolution makes me think of French revolution...) Quite different arrangement, more folky than usual poppy, bit in Gilbert O'Sullivan way. But the softness works perfectly with the wistful and powerful lyrics. "Aren't the stars bright?" is a clever ease from the gun and grave, bit of contradiction but it works so well - escapism needed in these times... Very well mixed, the bass sounds very pleasant. Enjoyed your comforting vocals. I'm not sure yet if the song ends too quickly... Janne

Chorusless seems to be the new trend for 2026 Good song, I like the contrast between the gentle backing band and the (unfortunately) still relevant lyrics. And as far as production goes, it's as good as it gets. Excellent ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif) Ha! Thanks for breaking the ice on chorusless end-of-year tunes. Glad you enjoyed the tune, B.D. Cool song. I got that same gentle on my mind vibe that Floyd noted.
Mix sounded good THANKS, Herb! Can't be highly offended by any "Gentle on My Mind" comparisons, that's a great tune.

"Simple tune without a chorus..." Nah, I hear a chorus and I hear more than simplicity with the arrangement. Cool stuff CD...cool stuff.

Another excellent song, Ron, a bit of a different sound from you! A 60s folk sort of vibe with the storytelling.
Great sounding guitars and bass.
Looking forward to hearing more from you in 2026! THANKS, Dave! Looking forward to all the New Year brings as well.

Hans Thank you, Hans! It did turn out to be a pretty sounding song. The beauty of the lyrics inspired me, I think. We had a wonderful New Year, hope you and yours had the same. I wasn't with "Marie" though. That would have been awkward.

I really like the midnight-cowboyesqe instrumentation in this song. It really rolls along.

Thanks, TB Thanks, Torrey! Those 60s folk tunes were the soundtrack to my childhood, but they never seem to get old. Well, if I'm going to win an award, nothing could please me more than "Strangest Song Title of the Year". I'll almost always post the lyricist's full song title here, but honestly I just labeled the song files "Marie" as I worked it. Long filenames can be a pain! I love Gilbert O'Sullivan! He sure had his moment.

I really like the midnight-cowboyesqe instrumentation in this song. It really rolls along. THANK YOU, Chay. One of the cool aspects of fingerstyle guitar is how it can drive everything else in the arrangement. BiaB did an especially fine job with these RealTracks and they really do make the song roll along...

Hi, Ron.
Late to the party; my excuse is that I thought I commented on this a while back and am finally getting around to actually doing.
Excellent write (as usual) and arrangement (as usual).
Actually, a better write than usual, and a song that sticks in my ear. As floyd jane says, sort of "Gentle on My Mind", but with a darker undertone.

Hi Ron. You and your brother have, once again, created something very special. I love what you've both done. This song sounded a bit like something Bobby Goldsboro could have created. The lyrics tell a powerful story and the music guides the listener along in a very comfortable and satisfying way. I enjoyed it. My late son was a soldier. He ended up in both Afghanistan and Iraq. And although he made it back home on both occasions, advanced PTSD was too much for him to handle. The ravages of war takes many shapes and causes many consequences. This story resonated greatly with me. Yet another song that you can both be proud of --Noel
