Deleted

A musing on the the fragility of our digital personas. Don't know how he thinks these things up. Guess that's why I do the music.

Had to rename this post from the original "Deleted". True story: My brother/lyricist's spouse told him, "Hey, Ron just posted another song," paused, and then said, "Never mind, it's been deleted..." Aargh!

All instruments you hear are from the 2026 _DETACH.STY. BiaB places this style in the Country genre, but I think it works well in this not-a-country-song. I've found a lot of fun RealStyle applications by looking in adjacent genres like Country instead of Pop.

Am using some power pop-like structure, but there's not a big repeating chorus, only the "Won't you help me..." line used in three places. So this approach may be a weakness. Also, went for a more dramatic ending than usual. I like the way it turned out, but can see that being open to interpretation as well.

THANKS in advance for any listens and comments!

Like a deleted scene out of a movie
She was here and then she was gone
I had an email stuck in my spam folder
But I don’t know who it was from

Like a cut-and-paste paragraph went missing
And nobody knew what it said
It was probably floating out in the breeze
Or around in somebody’s head

Won’t you help me find my wallet
And my brand-new pair of shoes?
They must be around here someplace
I followed all the clues
What have I got to lose?

Like the ghost of a memory left to die
Cuz nobody could remember
And can you hear a tree fall in the forest
If no one’s there to say “timber”?

Like a flash in the pan or flash in the sky
To signal an upcoming storm
You circle your birthdate on the calendar
Even though you were never born

Won’t you help me find my luggage
Or a phone to call for help?
Don’t send them to the lost baggage
Or to any place else
Until I search myself

Am I an invisible man?
An unopened metal can?
A dream that disappears when you awake?
The calm after an earthquake?
A duplicate snowflake?
A forgotten mistake?

Like a funeral unattended by all
But the men that dug the big hole
You escape into all your flights of fancy
For all the stories never told

Like the faded words on a scrap of paper
You felt alone and mistreated
You try to find a trace of yourself online
But now you have been deleted

Won’t you help me?
It looks like you need some help, too…

Ron,

What a cool song! Love it!

Awesome arrangement, tracks selections & mix. Your vocal is really strong on this one and I really like how you structured the "Won't you help me" lines. It's a great hook.

EXCELLENT ending. That was a superb build-up.

A new favorite!

Hi Ron!
This is good! I love the ‘doot doot’ used almost as a BV fill transitioning to the chorus. Also one of the RTs - I think it’s 4955 - jangling away on the right-hand-side - it gave me the impression of deleted things floating in the ether, and I note these RTs are called ‘ethereal’.

I wouldn’t call this country either, but for the presence of the steel guitar which is suitably disguised more as a slide which again suits the song. I’d be happy to sign a petition claiming this as rock/pop rather than country, or reporting the classification to BIAB Support as a ‘bug’. grin

Enough of the analysis - a really good song that I enjoyed.

Andrew
PS while listening and pondering the title, I thought how cool would it be to have an album named ‘Key strokes’ full of songs like ‘Deleted’, ‘Enter’, ‘Space’, ‘Control’, ‘Tab’, ‘Shift’, and so we don’t forget the Apple Mac users ‘Command’.

Ron & R.W.

Huge fan of chugging muted guitars AND simple spacey additions - so that opening is PREMO!
Nicely done...

LOVE your vocal on this!!! ....and those doot-doots, of course! (and the melody changes that happen right before that - Cool)

Bass and drums sound really good. Excellent mix.
Super change-up for the bridge...

Very cool lyric. Very cool melody. Both are interesting and often unexpected (in a really good way).

Outstanding arrangement/production.
Excellent mix. Bears repeating. Terrific soundstage.
Sounds Great.

Hi Ron,

Super song, write and production. I see Mr Dee likes the doot-doot-doots, he’s a doot-doot-doot man from wayback! I love the whole vibe and the phrasing, pauses etc. This is going on my favs list and is worth several listens, just to get more out of the lyrics and arrangement.

Love it Ron, kind regards.

Hi Ron.

Your brother has written some really inventive lyrics, and you have set them against a fantastic melody. This is a super-creative arrangement with a brilliant overall sound. Right from the start I was captured and transported into the song. Your vocals (lead and background) shine. To me, it sound like quite a bit of effort went into shaping this creation into its final presentation. Kudos to you both.

I loved everything about this smile

Andrew, THANKS for the listen and nice remarks. The "doots" are an Easter egg of sorts: Each "doot" represents the word "deleted" with the last six letters...deleted. Get it? I'm SO easily amused.

Like your concept album idea. smile

Easter eggs - that makes me wonder if I should play your song in reverse to see if there is any backwards masking! Actually, that gives me an idea …

A weird, different, unexpected song.
That's why I like it smile
The surreal lyrics are right up my alley, and your interpretation of them is perfect.
Even without a proper chorus, it's incredibly catchy.

Cool song, liked the doot doots and the ending. Singing strong as usual, mix and master is nonpareil. I recently purchased some new audio gear and your song really sounds terrific through it. Timber and remember was my favorite rhyme. You're really on a streak of hits, way to go!

Thank you, Floyd. The "spacey" RealTracks have some unusual textures that I like a lot, and the instruments can often be combined in interesting ways. Glad you enjoyed the tune!

Once again an excellent song and great use of BiaB samples. The arrangement, mix and production are superb and those and your vocals create an unmistakeable style.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
