Why when I render to WAV in 2008.5, a MIDI file with style ZZBLUSHF, the drums are out of sync with the song?

Hi John,

If this was me, I'd start a new song (only 8 bars). It doesn't matter what the chord changes are. I then render it to wav and compare what I get with the song you have. I'd try it with a couple of MIDI styles just to confirm that the problem is not unique to ZZBLUSHF.STY. I'd also try a factory reset (under Opt) and see if that helps.

Are the drums that are causing the problem MIDI or Realdrums?

Regards,
Noel

I don't have BiaB in front of me.
Are they Real Drums?
Do they seem to be exactly out of sync by two measures?
In the "old days" Real Instruments sometimes would be off by the length of the click-intro.
This was fixed with a patch upgrade.
Do you have the latest patch for your version installed?

A quick fix mighty be to try unchecking the click-intro or just slide the drum track into place in your sequencer.

The first two bars are in sync, but quickly go out of sync and by the end of the song on realdrums are playing for a few bars.

Is 2 bar ending checked? If so uncheck it?

I render to Audacity (free download) and fade out the endings anyway so I don't sweat that, but if you want it perfect there is something amiss in your setup.

John H,

As FirstBassman has indicated, there was a problem with 2008.5 wherein Realdrums sometimes played out of sync. Update #256 fixed this. It might pay to go to the below link, scroll about 1/3 of the way down the web page, and download and install Band-in-a-Box Version 2008.5 Build 265 Update (20 MB). See if this fixes the problem. BIAB will need to be closed when you install the update. (Note: Build #265 contains all the builds that were issued for BIAB 2008/2008.5)

Sorry but still not working correctly. The realdrums and MIDI start off in sync but after the first 3 or 4 bars slowly go out of sync increasingly, so that by the end of the song, the realdrums is still playing for a few bars, after the end of the song.

That's why there is live help here. Unless you don't have a "real" version. They should be able to sort out any tech problem.

That can happen if you are using a soundcard that is not unlocked such that the host program (BiaB) can set the samplerate.

If the card is locked at 48KHz, this can happen.

BiaB runs only at 44.1KHz.

This is usually something that the use of ASIO soundcard causes, although there may be some MME/WDM ones out there that can do it as well.

Thanks Mac, you nailed it, again! Card was locked at 48kHz. You are the man!

A problem posted on October 13, about 3 days later Mac posts a solution. On Nov 12, a month later it is 'nailed'.

My problem with this is there is live help. Instead of 2 days waiting for an answer, the should have nailed the problem right away, as in less than 10 minutes.

These types of posts make me wonder...a lot.

Sorry, John, I'm not following your point.

Are you saying the O/P would have gotten an "immediate" answer if they had called PGM technical support instead of posting to the forum?

I will hold off on my comment until I see your reply.

- Mark
