Forty-odd years ago when Sue and I hadn't long been vegetarian and when there wasn't much recognition of it, a large group of friends (20 or more) and we were looking for somewhere to eat. We'd read the menus and hardly anywhere had any interesting veggie choices on their menus, usually at best an unnamed "vegetarian option". My large group of friends quickly learned how frustrating this was, despite my "don't worry" comments and formed a one-night crusade. All of us would go into a pub, restaurant or whatever and ask what the vegetarian option actually was. And if we weren't encouraged, all 20 odd of us would walk straight out again. I like to think some establishments learned something that night.
