BIAB will certainly allow you to enter notes as 1/4-note triplets. The program may or may not display these correctly as notation (it depends on different settings) but it will always play them correctly. What I suggest is that when you listen, you do not watch the music as this will allow you to determine if the notes are being played correctly without being influenced by the visual display.

When I enter triplets of any kind, I always use the Piano Roll view. This has two functions that are very useful; these are "snap" and "dur". Clicking on these and then setting both to 1/4-note(3) will give you perfect triplets that align correctly. To enter a note, hold cntrl+shift and then left-click the mouse on the pitch that you want. As I mentioned before, though, these notes may not display correctly when back in notation mode but they will play correctly.

Under Help >> Tutorials, Tutorial #15 deals with using the Piano Roll mode. It might be worth having a look through.
