Sometimes midi tracks in Logic are white instead of green, but it doesn't affect in any way the sounding of the track.The little numbers in the stripe refer to the program change (midi instrument, i.e. 66 for tenor saxophone).
As for the external plug in instruments, generally it is matter of the midi channel in logic: many instruments are programmed to play on midi channel 1. So it should be sufficient to go in the inspector of the track in logic (middle box on the left of the screen) and change MIDI channel from All to 1 (or another one depending on the instrument plug in).
