bobcflatpicker has inspired and frustrated me at the same time. I've been watching his "favourite guitar" thread for a while and been frustrated that it was limited to guitars, so here's a list for the rest of us:
What is/are your favourite instrument(s) that you can/do play? Like bob's list, there are no wrong answers.
Mine are:
#1 is my new custom Rath R10F trombone. .500 bore lightweight nickel silver slide, Hagmann valve for the F attachment and 7.5" gold brass bell
#2 is my Bach Stradivarius 42A trombone.
#3 I'd love to have an Olds Recording trumpet, though my Olds Special is a fine horn.

Right now, my Gold Tone BUB -- baritone ukulele-banjo. It's really more banjo than uke and loads of fun to play around with.

Gotta be, hum, I don't know, I love 'em all, the Yamaha coppertone trumpet, the Bach student CR310 cornet which was perhaps the best buy ever at a second hand shop, the Corton straight bell shanked Czechoslovakia made cornet I learned to play on, even a rattly old Chinese made Lark. But I suppose the top of the list has to be the Besson Sovereign cornet that I used to help the brass band win four first prizes, one after the other. I also have a few other brass instruments collecting dust, a pocket cornet/trumpet by Arbiter, a plain old Bach trombone, a rather battered tenor horn and a well damaged French horn that lost it's protective coating a long time ago and is slowly going green, needs a good polishing. Just junk instruments that I either got dirt cheap or even given.

My favorite would be any of my 14 harmonicas (one for each key plus 2 chromatics).
And although they're still "guitars", my other 2 would be
- my 1976 Fender Precision bass
- my Dean Playmate hollow-body/electric bass

Mandolin. I have a very good imported mando with a carved top that I had several upgrades made on it. I had the fretboard "arched", (mando fretboards are flat), had banjo frets installed because they are fatter and higher, installed a Monteleone solid brass tailpiece,
and installed a Fishman bridge pickup system.
I don't play it anymore but I love the sound of a mandolin. It's got an "ancient" sound to it that works in genres ranging from bluegrass to classical. Especially in the hands of master musician like Mark O'Connor.
Please watch this clip because there's some truly amazing playing by Mark O'Conner, Bela Fleck and Jerry Douglas. It ain't bluegrass, but it's awe inpiring playing by all three. Not sure what you call this genre.

Peavey T-40 electric bass. I feel as if I shouldn't like this as much as I do. I only paid $150 for it used, but it plays and sounds great.
Yamaha Clavinova digital piano, until I sold it to pay rent while I was finishing medical transcription school last summer. I'll replace it eventually. (I'm primarily a guitarist but do most of my composing on keyboard.) The sound wasn't the best (for that I MIDI'ed it into my Roland JV-1010 module), but the action was that of a concert grand.
Korg MS-20 monophonic synth. It's shaped like a Minimoog and sound like an Arp Odyssey. It's patch programmable and has a built-in pitch-to-voltage converter, meaning I can drive it with a guitar or mic. I hardly use it and I could get a bundle for it, but I can do things with it that I couldn't do any other way, and get that kickety-butt analog sound in the process.

Roland/Rogers W50 keyboard meant as a 'church' organ sort of with lots of organ presets. Older than dirt. An SD2, and a JV1010 midi module.
Besson Baritone bell forward horn circa 1920.
Lark Baritione-Tenor Horn about 3/4 the size of the above, bell up. My fav horn, light responsive and expressive despite being cheap.
An upright piano, Heitzman, with a SOLID french provincial cherry cabinet, built 1960. At the moment my neck is killing me so I'm down to a half hour a day on it...I was 10 when my Mom bought it and 16 when I started playing it.
A Dick something Setti-Soprano Accordion.
The wife has a flute, a baritone horn, a violin and an not used clarinet.
And I have an Olds trombone I havn't started to play seriously but can do OK on.
And I have a trombone I've not really started to play,

1974 Emmons Push/pull D-10 Pedal Steel Guitar ! (An 8+4 for those "in-the-know" ;-)
(I also have several standard guitars, including a number of "Strat-O-Various-Parts-Casters" - but of course they DON'T qualify ;-)

Just now, its a collection of Congas, Djembes and related drums, donated to our church youth drum circle. All very much used, all high end and name brand. I have them at home for repair, cleaning and so on. What a joy just to bang around on!

Scott, I'm glad you gave a link or I wouldn't have known what it was. I still don't know what it is but I assume you sit on top of it and use it as a percussion instrument?

Favorite instruments that I actually can ply in order:
1) First is and will always be Saxophones in this order Tenor - Alto - Bari - Soprano
2) Wind synthesizer
3) Guitar
4) Bass
5) Flute
6) Keyboards
7) Drums
If I could play cello, it would be in the list. Perhaps someday, when I get happy with where I am on guitar.

Yes. There are various flavors of the Cajon, which in Spanish is the word for box. The origin of the instrument has been attributed to shipyards in Peru, where workers would use empty cargo boxes as hand drums.
Modern day versions are a little more sophisticated. Main purpose of them is to provide a thumpy kick-drum like sound and some kind of a higher snare type sound. First time I saw one played live was when my buddy produced a local concert for Chris Rice - a fairly well-known contemporary Christian artist. His drummer played about half of their whole concert just using a mic'ed Cajon. I've been intrigued with them ever since.
My son is a drummer and said he was willing to play some kind of hand percussion for his youth group's worship time. Plenty of reason to go shopping for one then, yes? Another happy Craigslist transaction landed this one.

Various varieties. The one I bought has some fairly heavy string that is stretched in the inside against the front tapa surface; giving it a snare like quality.
It's pretty addicting to play. The surface that is the seat on this one sounds like a nice bongo drum when you aren't sitting on it. I've seen a guy play one, not sitting on it, with brushes and getting all kinds of cool vibes out of it.
