Hi,
want to do some loop midi recording for drums for example.
Lets say a 2 bar loop, I'd like to record bd+sn first pass, and cc second pass, shaker 3rd one.
I set my loop to 2 bars, record first pass, then tracks window shows it is looping, but i dont hear the first pass (so i cant play the second one), but if i play, i will see my data on the 3 and 4 bar !!!
Does anyone ever experienced loop recording with pt 2010 ?
Thanks folks

What are you using to input the information?

Are you trying to use the animated drums, the qwerty keyboard or do you have a MIDI keyboard going in?

I wonder if the two bar offset is being caused by the two bar intro (?) The fact that you see it on the next two bars is confusing.

rharv,
Do you know if there is a Drum Kit Window in PT12 and how to open it? I'm trying to do the same thing with my mouse or qwerty keyboard.
Any help would great.

In RB it is hidden in the 'more buttons' section of tool bar beside Event list and audio edit window. I'd look there in PT

Thanks again,
I found the Drum Kit Window in all my programs.
Last night I found it in BIAB and used the mouse and keyboard and I drum made sounds.
Today no sounds in any programs using the Drum Kit Window. When I hit each drum I can see them move but no sound. I wonder why it worked in BIAB last night.

I just had to do a whole format and install a week ago and I forgot all my old settings. I should have documented them.
Also, I'm using MME not ASIO. I don't know if ASIO-MME has to do with MIDI. I have a SB X-FI card. I tried ASIO a long time ago and I had some problems recording in BIAB. Switched to MME and all was well with everything.
Maybe I should try ASIO again.

Thanks again, Wayne

Make sure your midi device output is set to the SB card.

Since response seems limited, click support at top of this page and see if they are aware of any issues with it.
It worked in previous versions.. I can't test 2010 here.

don't have powertracks pro so i tried loop record in real band 2010 instructions from the realband manual below

before i clicked on the record button

changed the bar offset to 0
choose 'endless loop from the options menu
clicked enabled
for loop type choose range below
then from bar 1 thu bar 4
clicked ok to save settings

pressed record

played 16 bars on notes changing octave every 4 bars

clicked the stop button

got a dialog will pop up giving you a choice of whether the recorded audio will go on separate tracks or on the
same track.

choose the separate tracks option

got 4 4 bar tracks which i could merge toone if i wanted
while recording after the cursor completed bar 4 it returned to bar 1

- Loop Record
If you record while in Loop mode (which is activated using the loop button) or choosing 'endless loop from the options menu the music will loop when
recording is started with the Record button. The music that is recording during each loop can be put onto
individual tracks after recording is finished, or the entire take can be put onto a single track like an ordinary
recorded take.
A dialog will pop up giving you a choice of whether the recorded audio will go on separate tracks or on the
same track. If you choose the latter, the take will be kept the same way an ordinary take is normally kept.
If you choose to have the loops put on separate tracks, the program will put each loop on any available
track that is greater than or equal to the Current Track. For example if there are 10 audio loops recorded
then program will put the takes onto 10 audio tracks. If you don’t want to overwrite existing tracks, then
make sure the current track, and any tracks with a higher number than the current track, are blank before
recording. For example, if the song already has 10 tracks used, then start recording on track 11 and the
loops will be placed on track 11 and beyond. If the program runs out of tracks it will attempt to put
remaining loops onto the last track.
- NOTE: Loop recording will always begin at the start of a loop.
- NOTE: Punch-in mode will automatically be deactivated by the program since it is incompatible with loop recording
mode.
- Insert Volume Change command in Tracks Win right-click menu. This will insert a MIDI controller

I think the key here is this step-
"changed the bar offset to 0"

Explains why he doesn't hear it and it shows up two bars later.. I did mention this in my first response.

That feature may not be implemented in PT2010 like it is in RB.

Looking in support section there are some FAQ's on offset for PT.
I'd get with support and see what they say.
On your song, do the bar numbers start at 1?

Just thought of something to try, but probably not likely ..

Do you have the program set to do a count-in before recording? Try setting the metronome count-in to zero and see if it does anything.
If it works I'll be as surprised as you.

Hello dominique.paon,

The Loop Record feature records a linear track, and then cuts it up into pieces (the length of each piece will be the length of the loop). The pieces are placed on separate tracks (parallel to each other) after recording. So once recording is complete, this is the point when you can expect to hear all the pieces overlapping. During recording, you will not hear the previous loop(s).

I believe the behaviour you are expecting is something like the Line 6 Spider Jam amp, or Ambiloop software? With those, every time you get back to the beginning of the loop, you can hear what you just recorded, and it keeps recording (layering and layering in real-time).
