https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8PlJTBSc_Y&feature=player_embedded49.95 GBP - about $100 AUD (which is currently about par with the USD) <edit> OOPS - make that $80 AUD and USD. Dunno how I typed the other number...

Dunno, the website is: www.pbone.co.uk there's an email link where you could ask.
They have more colours coming in February.
At the moment freight to the US is $130 for 1 instrument. This is because international shipping is based on volume of the package, not mass. I don't know what the cost to Oz is yet but I have plans to get at least 5 (a couple of buddies are interested) and expect the shipping to be proportionally much less.
As their online store is not set up for international shipping you need to email them for a quote. It would obviously be best to see if you can get a few mates to all get one to spread the freight costs.

and the "music goes round and round" whoa oh oh and it comes out here!
Soooo many changes in the music industry over the past few years. I can hardly wait to see what comes up next.

I would think the kids in Marching band would be happy to have one.
The company should just set up molding operations on all the continents and offer lots of colors - marching band fee for the year pays for your instrument and it's in the school's marching colors. Charge double to pay for setting up the molding ops.

Well, the thing doesn't really sound like a Trombone.
High Frequency content, the overtone series, appears to be truncated. As I would expect in this situation. The entire thing is likely vibrating more than brass construction would, thus robbing energy.
As we have all likely found out by using MIDI, it is very likely the same situation where an instrument seems to sound like that instrument to almost everyone but a player of that particular instrument.
So I would not look at this as a replacement for the standard brass instrument, but rather as an addition to it, a novelty axe that a trombonist could use to add interest to the performance. If done with taste, of course.
The Youtube example presented here shows a really good tromonist playing funk style. I think that is most probably due to the plastic bone being able to work well there. It may not work as well in a more "classic" setting (which in this situation would refer to more than what we call "classical" style of music). I don't think it would sound as good as the brass instrument if presented in a Tommy Dorsey style demo...

G'day Mac, you are quite correct, of course, and that's exactly what I want one for. The novelty value. They really appeal to my sense of fun and the ridiculous. Who knows, if they blow well enough they might even prove to be acceptable (very young) student axes. Or maybe take over from vuvuzela's (perish the thought!)

If everyone attending the next World Cup is blowing on a plastic trombone I’m giving up watching soccer/football!
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!
