Can someone enlighten me on this?
I understood that for V2010 and V2010.5, that BIAB would NOT work
with a WINDOWS 7 64 bit O/S and the VSCdxi.
Is that still the case with V2011?
If so, what are the options on a WIN7 64bit laptop?
Would that be either Forte or Coyote?

It is not that BiaB does not work with the VSC DXi on 64 bit machines, it is that the VSC DXi itself does not work in 64 bit. The VSC was designed long before these Vista or Win7 Operating Systems and Edirol no longer supports it.
No amount of change to the BB coding will ever make the VSC DXi work on those machines, sorry.

RIght, no Roland/Edirol VSC DXi on 64 bit systems, and that hasn't changed.
But of course we include the Coyote Wavetable GM Synth with every copy of Band-in-a-Box/RealBand, and that has a very similar sound, and works on **every** OS, including 98/2000/ME/XP/Vista-32/Vista-64/ W7-32/W7-64 bit.

And Lloyd, when you say "Forte or Coyote", that requires a clarification.
BIAB ships with the free Coyote Wavetable for 64-bit systems, for the reasons given above. It simply makes use of the Microsoft synth in Windows (and hence does not sound all that great, but at least it works). Coyote also makes a product called Coyote Forte. You can buy this for (I think it's still) $40. This will sound very much better than the Coyote Wavetable and, in my opinion, better than the VSC would have.
There are other software synth options, and of course, then there is hardware...

One of the other options, instead of spending $40 for the Forte DXi, you might consider the Music Creator for $39 http://www.pgmusic.com/musiccreator.htm that should have the Roland TTS-1 DXi synth in it. In my opinion, the TTS-1 is better sounding that the Forte, but that's just me. If I'm wrong on that being included, someone please let me know. Thanks. Gary
I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

I have a desktop running win7 32 bit and my laptop is win7 64bit. I bought the Music Creator just for the TTS synth. However the Music Creator program seems to run on my 64 bit. I do not use this program for my music so I have not tested this program extensive.

I didn't quite read it that way. Brian said Music Creator seems to run on 64-bit. He did not say that he tested and the included synth runs. Trouble, you should ask him to clarify that.

I would still want to check the developer's specs on the thing to see if they *support* use with 64 bit systems.
It might be a situation where it runs on one setup but not on others, things like that have been known to happen with other softwares.

I really like summarizing tables... :-)
on 32bit obviously everything --> YES
on 64bit:
program BIAB 2011 -----> YES (already from the 2010 version)
softsynth Roland/Edirol VSC DXi -----> NO (and never will be)
softsynth Coyote Forte -----> YES (both free and pay versions)
program Music Composer -----> YES (not officially declared however)
softsynth Roland TTS-1 DXi -----> YES (read next message)

The last, Roland TTS-1 does work on 64 bit. You can buy if from PG music, bundled with some software you don't need to use, and it's pretty cheap and lots of folks like it.
Check with sales, just tell them you want a 64 bit TTS-1 how do you get it.

Yes the TTS synth works fine with 64bit and that is why I purchased the program. I am sorry I did not clarify that a little better in my post
