I tried to create a large wav file (in excess of 100 megs) and the playback was horrible - not an audible problem per se, but a 'midi' problem with chords not stopping and playing into the next chord change.
When I simply reduced the number of repeats (from 20 to 7) it seemed to work fine. The size of the file then went from over 100 megs to around 38 megs.
I'm running Vista Home Premium 32 bit, SP2 with 2 GB RAM. (The 'RAM' meter in my SideBar is typically around 56 percent.)
Is this typical behavior for a system like mine?

Hi davehorn,
I've successfully rendered songs with lots of repeats like that in order to burn some practice CDs for students without problem, BUT it was with one of the older versions of BB at the time. Would have to perform a test to see how it plays with the new version 2011.
That said, first try a reboot of the computer, to refresh resoures and then try the Render of the large file again.
If that doesn't do the trick, perhaps something has become corrupted in BB, use the Options->Return to Factory Settings command, likely the second button down that also resets sound device and MIDI stuff at the same time. Then see if the long render will do what it is supposed to do.

Mac, thanks for the info! The version of BIAB I'm running is Band-in-a-Box for Windows Version 2011 (312). I'm still waiting for the DVD in the mail and the copy I installed came from a link in an e-mail from BIAB.
I reset everything to factory settings and will try this again. If I still have the same problem, I'll post again.

I went back, retried everything, and now it works as it should. This time around I received a brightly colored message in the upper right of the screen which I didn't receive the first time around.
Thanks for your help in this. (I see from the UPS Tracking, the delivery is imminent.)

Not to hijack so only the facts.
Had glitches with Melodist, and ended up with over 350 meg wav files.
And it sounded fine, albeit didnt listen to the whole 32 minutes.

Stereo .WAV files are about 10 megabytes per minute, so that looks about right.
