Hi davehorn,
I've successfully rendered songs with lots of repeats like that in order to burn some practice CDs for students without problem, BUT it was with one of the older versions of BB at the time. Would have to perform a test to see how it plays with the new version 2011.
That said, first try a reboot of the computer, to refresh resoures and then try the Render of the large file again.
If that doesn't do the trick, perhaps something has become corrupted in BB, use the Options->Return to Factory Settings command, likely the second button down that also resets sound device and MIDI stuff at the same time. Then see if the long render will do what it is supposed to do.
