I am all packed and ready to go to my first gig tonight... I have my laptop loaded with BIAB 2011, my Ketron SD2, the Bose L1 II w/T1 and Guitar... and various stands and a neat little D'Addario stool... It's actually a non-paying house gig at a friend's Xmas annual party...

Dick,
That looks awesome....I'm sure it will be a super success. I just had to ask about the thing your laptop is sitting on. Maybe I just need clarification. What is that thing sitting to the right of your mic stands.....looks like some small flat top surface for your laptop....or am I just seeing things as a result of background items blending together in your picture?
Thanks, Cecil

Cecil, it's a Quick-Lok LPH-003 Tripod for laptops... nice and study and heavy! My Guitar Stand is Herculus, and an APEX Mic stand for the SM58... The laptop is a SONY VAIO Windows 7/64.

This Canuck wishes you well and a Merry Christmas. I never have used BIAB on a gig - have been tempted for 15 years but never have - I'm not sure how I'd be feeling about now. But you Calgarians always have a good time. Will you go "off script" (BIAB) for requests? Cheers and success - Ian

I really like the features of the laptop stand.....here's one exact e-mail address to it: http://www.music123.com/Accessories/Stan...ct?src=ZWWRWXGBIt appears to cost $79.00 if I'm reading this thing correctly. Cecil

Thanks guys. It went pretty good. The sound throught the Bose L1 II was awesome but I need to get a better grip on the volume fluctuations from song to song... keeping the balance between the Ketron channel (Ch1 on T1/ToneMatch)and the Laptop channel (USB into T1/Tonematch) was also a challenge. I kept adjusting the volumes quite a bit. One thing I realized, I needed to keep turning down the volume on the Bose quit a bit as you don't realize how loud it could be... Cecil, yes that's the price I paid for the Stand. I bought it from a local store ( AXE Music), they had to order it and took a few days. Ian, I have a pretty fixed repertoire of Jazz standards and some of the Jazz Solos I got from BIAB which I have rearranged by changing some of the instuments and adding some Sax or Trumpet solos (which sounded great through the Ketron SD) using the soloist feature in BIAB... I was getting special requests... but people were quite undertanding as they know I am a "beginner" and didn't have a large selection... altogher I had about 20 songs... and another friend had brought his guitar and he sang a few songs too. John, relax LOL... we have music stores in Calgary too...! LOL and Frankie... Calgary is still a very safe place... a lot of people still don't lock their doors... NOT this guy! LOL...

There are utilities that allow you to go through a folder of sound files and get them all to the same level.

Dick,
I couldn't get the tripod laptop holder out of my mind....I ordered one this morning (sorry to be a copy cat). I had been placing my laptop on a heavy music stand, but I could not get confidence that it was dependable (i.e., it would not tilt over easily).
So, again, I appreciated seeing your setup...have a great holiday, Cecil

You're very welcome Cecil... I am glad it helped you... that's how I get my ideas. Happy to share.
John... is that utility in BIAB, or is it something else?

I'm pretty sure I used mp3gain. I make no claims as to how good this is, I'm not much of a tecchie when it comes to audio.

jeffgee, thank you... I love the L1 and my gig went really well. I have posted more at the Bose L1 Forum about better understanding technical capabilities of the L1, you may follow that discussion there if you like.
Merry Christmas to my BIAB/RealBand Family...
