Hi Jeff,

Band-in-a-Box's real strength lies in automatically generating backing parts, given the chords and a style. While you can enter the piano part by hand (note by note), it will take a long time may end up being quite frustrating. Does the piano accompaniment list the chords? If so, just put all the chords in and pick a style (there's a Classical category in the Style Picker), and play along. Otherwise, if you have any audio recordings of the pieces you can always plug them into the Audio Chord Wizard function to have Band in a Box determine the chords automatically.

I play violin as well and started with the Suzuki method too - best of luck! Violin can be a frustrating instrument to get going with, especially wrt tone and posture, but stick with it, it'll be worth it!

Best,
Will

PS If you're entering parts by hand and you don't want any automatic backing, you can disable the Band in a Box Style by uncheckingStyle > Style is enabled. You'll want to enter your part on the Melody or Soloist track, those are not overwritten when you press Play.
