Thanks, Bob! Barenaked Ladies are WAY cooler than we are, but it feels good anyway. Just listened to them when Brian Wilson passed, for obvious reasons...

Thank you, Ray! That's a brilliant suggestion, and I've updated the SoundCloud file to reflect the change. (Actually did that hours ago now) I was going to do it that way originally, but sang it the way I did first and thought, "Hey, that's not bad". But it wasn't as good as your way, either. Appreciate the listen and thoughtful input.

Pete, yep, THAT's a COUNTRY song. Well done! Very impressive BiaB arrangement. Are you producing these songs in BiaB? The video LOOKS like that's what you're doing, and that's REAL impressive, too. (Am I using enough UPPERCASE? YES, I THINK I AM.) Anyway...you've really got that modern country sound down...or DOWN.

Mario/Andrew/Bob/Ron...thanks for being willing to visit the "wierd" side of me...I had to get this out and hoped that it would further muddy my reputation on the forum...and, as always, thanks for the mix tips.

The non-BIAB musicians are exceptional. This is one of your best vocals. Excellent lyrics. Great song.

Re: Eila vaan (Eh, La Bas!) - traditional New Orleans jazz in Finnish with translation DC Ron Yesterday at 10:50 PM Forum: User Showcase
Arri, used to live in downtown New Orleans, and this brings back some fond memories. You've really captured the exuberance of that style of music. I'd agree with Mario that when the band comes in for the middle section they should be more up front in the mix. Once they get to that part of the tune, they're usually quite loud and clamorous. Enjoyed your tune!

Bob's spot on with that. I was thinking of on-PC production, where the best results come with quite some tinkering/tuning. For live playing, I send the MIDI to my Kawai or an SD1000, for that ~0 latency.

After we put the monitors back on the shelf we much enjoyed it! smile Awesome! This could be a bonus track off The Rolling Stones’ Blue and Lonesome album. The write up for the song was quite enjoyable. Hated to come to "the end." The solo guitar RT sounded great - never a small feat to choose the "right" one for a production. Your friends fit nicely in too. The bass nailed the shuffle. We hear a fine mix all around. Two thumbs up from us - blues via a shuffle are so good - always. Keep blues alive! J&B

Man, you are a master of all BiaB productions .... have we said that before? smile Finding the "right" for your production solo RT's is not an easy task. No doubt it takes a lot of auditioning and perhaps some comping. The great build takes the listener nicely through the multiple moods. Great mix too. Well done! J&B

Re: Accords simples pour mélodie classique Lazy Bird Yesterday at 03:53 PM Forum: Forum des Utilisateurs Français de Band-in-a-Box Jump to new postsJump to new posts

Re: 'simple arrangement' is CUCKOO, we need a much better one Matt Finley Yesterday at 03:41 PM Forum: Band-in-a-Box Wishlist Jump to new postsJump to new posts
In your picture with the C#, assuming it's enharmonically a Db then it's a flat five on the G7 chord. I could see that being a perfectly normal enhancement for a real artist to play. Elsewhere in your many threads it was mentioned that you cannot control voicings, but you can usually 'fix' such things by several methods including editing and partial regeneration. I will just add that an artist might simply have thought the 7flat five sounded good here. QUESTION: Did you have a melody note in the song file? If for example the melody was Cnatural or D, then I think BIAB would have avoided that C#. I don't think you have commented that you read the article I wrote on the subject of 'wrong' chords, in the Tips and Tricks forum. What did you think of that? Anything to add or change?

To be able to specify the scale, would avoid BB playing any wrong passing notes, wrong auxiliary notes, etc. It gets plenty of cuckoo notes especially over chromatic chords such as secondary dominants or borrowed chords from parallel keys. A simple option to choose what scale to play over any chord, would solve all these maddening problems.
I understand this issue. I think I liked your other proposed solution better, to fix the Simpler option. I know you understand music theory so help me understand in your example, what is the scale you would want to limit BIAB to playing in a CSus chord? C Major scale? Is it the Bb you object to? Ok, I can see that, but you would be ok with a Bnatural?

Re: Walking On Water (collab w/ray c) jannesan Yesterday at 03:28 PM Forum: User Showcase
A catchy pop song reminding me strangely of Beach Boys - sea & water & sunlight create a nice vision, Portugal seems to have been a very inspiring place. Lyrically positive, full of light and love, I liked especially "‘Cause all the storms and floods will be/Nothing more than scenery/As long as I can ever be/ Here and by your side" The chord progression is enjoyably full of summer. The guitars are tinkling nicely. The bass is very tight. Great vocals, sounding bit muddy is the only thing not to my taste. Janne

Ray, loved the concept. Super backing tracks. Your bass playing is excellent. Like others I did have difficultly with the vocal. I really liked the Mellotron sounds. I think with a little polish, mostly on the vocal, you will have a dynamite song. PS - I have used Melodyne exactly the same way.

Re: Is it possible to write this chord in BIAB? Notes Norton Yesterday at 01:13 PM Forum: Band-in-a-Box for Windows Jump to new postsJump to new posts
It's one reason why I use MIDI instead of real tracks. BiaB picks the chord inversion, which might be fine, but not what I want. If I export the MIDI song, I can go to a sequencer or DAW, and make what I think is the very good output of BiaB and turn it into something that is ready for prime time, excellent. Alan, As Janice & Bud say, this song is truly worthy of this showcase. The chord progression is fantastic and matches this RT style very well. Perhaps because of it, the generated guitar solo is also wonderful and melancholic. Enjoyed my listen a lot. Best regards. Shigeki Adachi
