Now if anyone doesn't think I am having a stroke or have simply gone nuts. Here is one more. This is the Master of the Grunt at his very very finest. But you have to hear the entire album to get the full grunt-effect. If you can make it through this album you will never miss a good grunt in a song again. This will tune your ear to hear them in all their glory. This album is featured in 3 parts across 3 links ([*****] the memo portion of this Part 1 link). Best to listen at the end or very beginning fo the day. Trust me - this has my personnal listening recommendation.
Dan, that’s one of the longest running discussions on the forum dating back to 1995. BIAB uses the jazz fakebook song model, but some folks prefer the intro, verse, chorus, bridge etc. model. At least doing sub styles using this other approach would make more sense and be easier to know when you had a combination that was ‘done’.
OK, I see what you mean... Also I need to clarify. They have totally removed Fastback Pro V5 - which is the product I use. The replacement product does NOT record simulaneous multiple audio inputs (sorry, I knew that, but I had forgotten). It is still a low learning curve and I will continue to use my Fastback Pro V5, but appearently it is no longer supported. So I am going to go back to my original thread and remove the "personnal recommendation". Still likely a good product (see pricing below), but I do hate the annual licence stuff which is also new!
Andrew!Thank you for your very encouraging text. We have a lot of songs where I had a melody ready but I didn't have the words. I have a friend on the other side of Finland who sends me poems. And he has no idea what kind of melodies I have But they always go perfectly with one of my melodies so there's no need to change anything. So he didn't know I had a minor key song. But the chorus status in D major!
Hi Pat, long time no see! Man I love your guitar work in this one, very tasty and professionally played. Your vocal was very good, great job on that. The groove was fantastic and the backing band was spot on. So all I can add is - loved it. PS - I hope this is just the start of you posting songs again.
Mario my friend! Good to hear from you again! Thanks for listening and replying. I recently started collaborating with an author and lyric writer from New York City. She's well-connected and there's potential for a lot of projects. If that materializes as I expect, you'll probably see my presence here increase substantially.
Sol, this is hilarious! A catchy tune with a great vocal and lyrics. Super mix also. My wife makes great meatloaf but I still put ketchup on it, thus I really connected with this song. Loved it
Oh, yeah, I'm with ya, Izzy. What a fine production. First, your vocal is so strong, and the harmony helps it land a powerful punch --softly in sound, boistrous in quality and emotion. The lyrics and the story they convey are perfect for the melody, and I like how the sound builds and eases to a smooth transition of dynamics. She never left you, btw.
Wicked cool song! Smokin' backing track with (always) great bass and lead guitar. Those BiaB rhythm guitars do their job nicely. Sounds LOUD but very CLEAR, so stellar mix, too. You guys are amazing!
Thanks, Ron. Much appreciated. Loud? That puzzles me. I try to get all of the songs at a -14LUTS, but notice that that doesn't really equalize the volume. But then I don't know much about that science.

Of course you had to look it up, Brain, because it is so far removed from who you are. And to answer your tongue-in-cheeky question: no.
Wow, you have a powerful muse, Janne. And we here benefit from your recognizing her. Can't image in the art of selecting the right Natalie(s), but you obviously have a knack for it. And although you say it was easy, you have a knack for using the best RTs to accompany "her." Man, right from the Intro those guitars lay the foundation of what's to come, and what comes next is a well-crafted melody and a pleasent mix. So well produced. Man, those lyrics are stupendous. {especially the "la-la-la"s --haha}
You are a fun creative human, Brain. I'll be listening to whatever you music you create, however you create it. This is another outstanding example of what can be done adding elements available to you. You write and produce magic. I dig it.
Hello Laurent4114, Very pleasing to listen to! I have reached an age where my ability to understand lyrics in songs is gone, so I was hoping for a lyric sheet. Since you presented the song as an MP4 video, one way to do that in the future might be to scroll the lyrics in the video, karaoke style. OR not. As the saying goes "your mileage may vary" You are the architect of your presentation, and all of those decisions are 100% in your domain, I don't get a say. But having said all that: I didn't catch enough of the lyrics to comment on them one way or another, but I thought the music itself was quite lovely and fun. This is the first of your songs I've ever heard, so if this is a good indication of your work, I will certainly enjoy listening to more.
Thanks Pat for the feedback. I was behind schedule with the release of the tracks and had some issues with the image and video generation software. So I prioritized the music. The next ones should be better presented. Laurent
Hi, Fred. Nice! It reminds me of some of Mark Knophler's later music, which is a good thing. It was a bit odd to hear Reno as "Reno town" (especially since their slogan is "The Biggest Little City in the World"), but why let that get in the way of an excellent rhyme?
Thanks, David. I happened to stumble upon an old movie last week that was set in Reno, and I saw the slogan in neon!
Hello Beth! I don't know you yet, but I'm an old timer on the forum who has been away for too long. I tracked you down after you so graciously listened and commented on my most recent song. How wonderful that you have created a CD of songs from your BIAB projects! I'm so envious! You may have just inspired a copycat response... maybe even more than one! Your voice is beautiful, and your harmonies are perfection! It must be a dream come true for a singer like you to have found a way to create your own backing tracks... you have done a great job with each of the songs in your collection. I wish you the best in this endeavor, and I hope you will keep us all informed of any developments in your musical career.
Goofy/Michael Here's my reply with suggestions: 1. I would never use the cloud like this. 2. Each song should have it's own Windows folder. For example, I have a directory called Songs in Windows. Within that directory is a dir for each song. 3. Within each song's dir is everything to do with that song and everything from BB and RB gets saved to that song dir. The same dir is also used for saving production notes and anything else related to the song. 4. I never use a music production pc on the net. I have a separate PC for that. For reasoning behind this and save me retyping. Please go to PG Tips Forum and read tips re Using an Existing PC for music production. There are many good reasons for this. 5. If I want to back up to a cloud account I would copy the song dir to the internet PC and do it from there. This sandboxes the production PC. 6. During a session I save the song seq to the songs dir and also to a second back up device..m.2 ssd which are dirt cheap these days. In closing please could you run the following test in RB. ACTION then test audio performance then please post back results. As a benchmark my production PC RB reports over 250 tracks. Please note that any music app you use the saved song projects can be large depending on the number of tracks used. OM
Hello Andrew, This song had me smiling immediately, since nearly all of what you said here are thoughts that cross my mind every day. I've reached the age where "less" is the new "more" I like hearing how people arrive at their choices, so your details in the intro are very interesting to me. The process, to me, is at least as important as the end result. Great job on the mandolin! I laughed at your comment: "Rhythm guitarist picks up a mandolin, thinks he can play" (I wholeheartedly identify, being a guitar player who also owns a mandolin but rarely thinks he can play it) Your comment could be interpreted as self-deprecating, except for the confidence you've exhibited by playing the mandolin in this song. (well done!) I like it!
Wow Noel, I like everything about this, starting with the story of how you found your chord progression! I dare say the struggle we all face is that of finding new ideas... and dipping into the repository of established classics makes perfect sense to me. Having expressed my thoughts on your inspiration, let us move on to your melody. You have an amazing voice my friend! That melody is very active in ways that would be difficult for most people to sing... but you NAILED it! Can you offer any insights on how you arrived at the melody? I ask because to my ears, it's not at all intuitive. I'm guessing you put some thought into picking those notes. However you got there, the combination of that melody and your ability to sing it is very impressive to me! Now the lyrics themselves are also noteworthy. Here you have put together what I can only describe as a practical life philosophy. It's a song about CHOOSING to be happy even though your words express it as a request. But whereas a request might be denied, a choice is absolute. At a time when so many people are dealt a life of goodness, yet they still choose dissatisfaction because (insert ridiculous reason here)... you have written a song that the whole world needs to hear and embrace. What's left then is the song itself. You really know your way around BIAB. Your selection of Real Tracks suits the song perfectly, and you've put it all together in a way that sounds natural, like a real band (literally) performing. This is a very nice and uplifting composition, exactly what I have come to expect from you. I really like your analytical approach to song writing.
Cool blues rock song! I enjoyed the guitar riffs, reminded me of some famous song and I finally realized it was Marty's song where certain Dave played the guitar Your power trio rocks solidly like a Corvette engine. Nicely flowing rhyming describes the deja vu feel very lively. And your husky voice is at home in this bluesy soundscape. Janne
Thanks, Janne! I see you have a new one up, I'll be over in a minute to give it a spin
If a user has a favorite style they use consistently over and over on projects, or what I prefer, I use a specific style every time I use the Stem Splitter. But any style from the Styles List can be loaded onto the Chord Sheet instantly using this method. Using with the Stem Splitter: I load a metronome style that is useful when I use the ACW to create the tempo map and sync the stem with the Chord Sheet and add instruments. Once complete, I can either add instruments from this style or, select any style to load and use with my Stem project. To do this, mark the style in the StylePicker you choose to use as a Favorite. In my case, I chose a metronome. Open the Favorites folder and select the first button on the right "To Top" This moves your preferred style to the top of the list. When I begin a new Stem Splitter project, I Open a New Project, type S5 into any measure cell and hit the enter button on the keyboard twice as fast as possible. This action loads the top style from the Favorites list instantly. S5 is a keyboard shortcut that produces the instant load. The favorites dialog page can also be accessed through menus but the shortcut works instantly. This tip works with any style located on the top of the Favorites List.
Hello Otto, I was hoping the iOS version of the software would do exactly what you say - allow you to play your created backing tracks on your iPad (for example) without your laptop and the full version of the program. My solution was to use Stage Trax 3, wherein I imported each track (up to 8) and the lyrics on a pdf and used that for live performances, gigs rehearsals etc. It does require a little time in importing the content, but it may be a solution for you. Tom Marvan (San Diego, but from Melbourne!)
Sol Varon, you've posted a dozen songs in about eleven days. Slow down so folks can a) catch up to listen to your stuff & b) not have their own stuff pushed off page one. Re this song you need to reduce the vocal reverb, (it's creating an auditory halo effect), do a little editing on levels as you clearly leaned back or turned away once or twice and that change in level came through.
Thanks for your input. It never crossed my mind that I'd be pushing other people off. I guess I was carried away by people actually listening to my songs.
