Thank you for the input. I am in the market for a new laptop and am prepared to pay. My existing laptop is an i7-5500 with 8GB of RAM and a 500Gb hard drive. I am looking at an I7 with 32 GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. I assume this will do the job, at least that is what Gemini is also telling me! Things have certainly changed since I first started with BIAB in 2000. I now amaze the residents in our senior's residence with what BIAB can do! Tony

Thanks Andrew. Specially, because you got my idea of bringing this jazzy classic from 1920s to modern time with a groove R&B backing and rock guitar solos at the end. I listened those many fabulous versions of great singers from Frank Sinatra to Adam Lambert and my favourite Diana Krall. Still I bravely sang my own with this weak voice of an old man, since AI vocals are missing the human rendition, connection to the message and feeling of the song. Thanks for understanding that as well.

Bob, Thanks for this suggestion, which should have cleared it up. Unfortunately, when loading file into RB, the melody track - which should also contain the harmonies - shows and plays only the melody. No sign of the harmonies elsewhere on track listing. From what little I know about it, harmonies are on Midi channels 11 and 12. Melody track is set to play channels 1 to 16, so should play them if present. Used RB to add the same harmonies and saved the Midi files. Two empty bars are added to the start of each saved midi track, so not quite sure where I am with this! There is, of course, an easy workround in that I only have to delete the two unwanted empty bars. Was hoping the process could be made a little slicker by not having to do this!

Hi BD. Once again, you have cleared the "this is brilliant" bar with plenty of room to spare. I absolutely LOVE what you've done. The arrangement, the production, the vocals are stunning. You had me completely mesmerised. What really appealed to me was that this sometimes sounded distinctly 3/4 and other times it sounded like a slow 6/8 (especially when the snare drum was on the first beat of alternating bars). I had this catchy Motown/disco styled melody since 1993. I was in Denver when a lesbian colleague told me about how her lover treated her and she decided to leave. I thought it would make a good story line for a song but I struggled with the words. I didn't like what I came up with so last year Robert Quigley went through line by line and came up with a terrific set of lyrics. He just rattled them off! I had trouble trying to keep up with copying and pasting what he was typing on WhatsApp! Thanks so much. I'm going to check that out soon. I was using the Tonalic one month for a dollar and it was seamless with the project. But then the project would not open and the crash dump said the culprit was Tonalic. So I uninstalled Tonalic and then re-installed and it still would not open the project. Uninstalled again and got rid of the Tonalic instances in the project. I have another song with 4 instances of Tonalic and it opens fine. For now anyway.

In my experience, be careful with 3.5 or 4mm cables of any useful length. A cheap one may add unintended noise Also, if doing that, I'd probably lean toward the Tascam vs Peavey, but that's just me. YMMV You also make a good point. I should pay attention to cable quality. And I agree with favoring the Tascam, that interface is built like a brick, very little plastic. The Peavey is also solid but will be the backup.
