Re: Use 3rd party melodic / phrase based MIDI loops with BIAB engine Jim Fogle 49 minutes ago Forum: Band-in-a-Box Wishlist Jump to new postsJump to new posts
A consideration regarding copying whole folders to the Loops folder. When loops were first implemented in Band-in-a-Box there was a maximum number of loops limitation for how many files the Loops folder could be. The maximum number of files limitation wasn't so much about unnecessarily taking up drive storage space as a limit to how many loops Band-in-a-Box registers. I haven't checked the current manual but previous manuals did not state the maximum number of files. I also remember a question asked about the maximum memory storage space the Loops folder can occupy but I think that was incidental to the number of loops conversation. In any case the limits likely changed over time, especially after PG Music added the second loop PAK. To answer the unasked question, once the number of loops limitation is exceeded the extra loops do not show up in the load window.

Re: Getting a "Pre-Roll" With Loop Recording goofeyfoot 1 hour ago Forum: Beginners Forum Jump to new postsJump to new posts
You do actually have that availability. On mine, when I stop recording, a menu pops up that asks, “save the takes?” And then it asks “save as a single track” or save as “multiple tracks”. I pick the latter and then I get a string of all of my mostly horrible takes. I think, however, there is one of those annoying check boxes at the bottom of that menu that says “don’t show this menu again“. Thus, you may not see the menu because perhaps you checked the box. There must be a way to roll back check boxes, but I have no idea how to do that. I think that’s your problem though, for what it’s worth.

Re: Building drum tracks quickly is cumbersome Charlie Fogle 2 hours ago Forum: Band-in-a-Box Wishlist Jump to new postsJump to new posts
I understand. I wasn’t suggesting that time stretching is required for basic drum track creation or for choosing fills and dynamics. I mentioned it because in your second post, you said “a particular fill might not fit in well, so you need to make it shorter or longer,” and BIAB’s Audio Edit time-stretch feature can sometimes help with exactly that situation when working with audio-based material. For users who only want to assemble drum parts with suitable fills and section dynamics, there are definitely easier workflow approaches inside BIAB. I just thought the Audio Editor feature was worth mentioning since many users may not realize it exists.

These were the two references I wanted to give you regarding the bass lines. I fully understand your response regarding covering Van's material. You and me both brother! Re: Band‑in‑a‑Box 2026 on Windows ARM (Snapdragon X Elite) - real‑world compatibility? Lazy Bird 8 hours ago Forum: Band-in-a-Box for Windows
Hello Rob Helms, Rustyspoon# and TheMaartian ! Thank you very much for your replies! They've helped me understand things better. I agree that a stable and proven configuration is preferable, and your comments on BIAB's multithreading and the current state of Windows ARM are very helpful. In any case, it seems that BIAB hasn't yet been successfully tested on an ARM architecture. So I'm not going to take any risks and will stick with an Intel/AMD machine for the time being. Thanks again for your contributions!

Try reinstalling from your distribution or re-download from your account on the PG Music Web Site. Let us know how it goes.

David, this is really nice. Super composition and the vocals sound AMAZING. Really like the harmonies you've stacked up behind the vocalist. Nice backing track, especially like the bass and piano combo. That sound never gets old to me. The solo turned out great and gives the arrangement a nice lift. As often happens, I read your workflow narrative and shake my head that something that sounds so smooth travelled such a difficult-sounding (to me) route. But it DOES sound silky smooth. Really appreciate you taking the time to describe the details. I always read them at least twice, and marvel at your songcraft... Good to see you posting again!!!

Re: Guitar notation/tablature playback Funkifized 15 hours ago Forum: Band-in-a-Box for Windows
With MS Clipchamp, can we crop out the bulk of the window that isn't needed? Leave just the notation playing with audio? [quote=Noel96]Jeff, Yesterday, I tried using Microsoft Clipchamp that comes free with Windows 11 to try and record a video of the screen while BIAB was playing. I could not get it to work. The program worked fine for a number of different non-BIAB windows. (This is probably due to me, though, because I had not used the program until yesterday.) Next, I tried recording a video with the snipping tool in Windows 11. This worked fine and captured both the video and the system audio. For Funkifized's information, this is what I did (using Windows 11). 1) Open the BIAB Notation Window. 2) Start the Snipping Tool (so that it sits over the top of the BIAB notation.) 3) Select "Video" (#1) and then select "New" (#2). [Linked Image] 4) A small dialogue window will open at the centre-top of the screen. 5) Select "Window" (#3). [Linked Image] 6) Click anywhere in the main window. This will open the "Start" button. 7) Check that the system audio is set to record (#4). [Linked Image] 8) Now click on "Start". A countdown will appear. 9) Start BIAB playing. It will be recorded. 10) Once you have recorded what you want, stop the recording. The option will then appear to open the recording Clipchamp for editing. [Linked Image] 11) Screen recordings are automatically saved in your "Videos/Screen Recordings" folder. [Linked Image] Video file... mp4 video created with Snipping Tool (Windows 11)

That was fun. Yeah, the recording was pretty crappy, but i can hear it all well. The first Fire song had the drum machine too loud --so is the bass, but i like that. wink But this 2nd one is much better. I can still hear Lionel and now also your keys and a little of Colin's guitar. You could've added a clip of Neil howling at the moon in Winchester. Good choice of songs. Which did you all decide to kick off the list? Did Chris program the drums for you? I've done that for a band once --daunting task, especially in the 90s, but i learned much respect for Ringo's timing ability. She's right. Ain't Misbehavin' is a nice song. Does Lionel play with a pick? Sounds so clean --and excellent timing. Cool how you ended up playing The Weight as the last song. I heard it mentioned in the beginning and was disappointed when you didn't play it then. Well, thanks, Izzy, and thanks to all the VVB.
Marty Myself and the guys are so thrilled that you took an interest in our humble ensemble. Kudos also for wading through such raw and rough audio. Lionel was jumping up and down with excitement like a little kid knowing that a brother bass player from the other side of the planet listened and commented on his playing. I gave him your SC addy and he is keen to hear all your songs. I have now taken the audio down now because it has served it's purpose. Once again from ALL the band , A huge THANKYOU for your interest Marty. 👍 💗 Izzy.

Without knowing your set up, hard to say how you can do that again. But I will say to record a MONO track, then duplicate it (copy/paste) on another track, then very very slightly slide that track a nudge, is a long known trick.
