Hi Mario! I like the steady rhythm/beat throughout this piece, but my favourite is the strings throughout, but particularly the ‘drama’ they add around 3:05 - that’s a good section. Andrew
This is a great song and reminds of the 26 years I lived in London, my 20s to mid-40s. It's the usual brilliant production, but I wouldn't cut verse 3 as it come in just at the right place. An alternative would be to cut your least favourite non-chorus verse and play a solo over the following chorus, though that wouldn't shorten it a lot.
Thanks, Chay! London is quite a lovely place to visit, but I'm not sure I could have done 26 years there. Thanks as well for the thoughts on shortening or extending the song. We've done a couple of songs lately that feature solos, maybe I'll post one of those soon...
Hi John! The unsettling chord progression probably serves the circumstance really well - based on your description of the context. Those strings in the background support the tension really well also. Your singer (from Fiverr?) has a vocal tone that reminded me of Colin Blunstone of The Zombies. It might not be a single, but it would be a really solid album track! Liked it! Andrew PS What is the chord progression? Would you mind sharing it?
Dave, this REALLY POPS! Very snappy backing track, and the bass is (of course) pendulous and cool. Great job transitioning the MIDI SuperTrack part to Chris' part. That turned out great. Chris' vocals are nice as always, and I like the vocal FX chain you're using here. Great tone and touch on your guitar parts. Really love your playing. Super mix, too. Thanks for the reminder about the iZotope unmasking plugins. Can't remember why I moved away from them, but they are great at what they do.
… You have natural skill to write original pop songs. This new one sounds is a good example, melody and chord progression feel natural and catchy, the bridge has especially nice contrast to verses and chorus. The simple band supports well and your vocals blend in nicely. The YouTube version sounds a little better, is it still the same version as on SoundCloud? BTW. I finally figured out your songs remind me of music by ... Ringo Starr (I've been listening to his EP3 lately) :)…
Thank you Janne! When listening to music I liked over the years, I’ve always wished I could write songs as good as those artists. I guess we all want that. I’ve created my own library of well-known songs (over 2000 with lyrics and chords) and that process exposed me to the chord underpinnings of each song, so it was kind of an analysis in a way that has probably done my own songwriting some good. Soundcloud and YouTube have the same audio track, so any difference arising would come down to how each platform renders the audio I guess. Thanks for the recommendation of Ringo’s EP3 - I’d never heard it before. Thanks for listening and commenting! Andrew
Great song! Excellent choice of words! (We Europeans live lightheartedly with swear words; the French language is full of them, for example, not to mention some German dialects.)
Hey Chay, It always sounds like you are having so much fun with these tunes. The instrumentation certainly is fascinating, and the mix sounds great. Have a great rest of the Sunday.
Thanks, David! Yes, I do have a lot of fun with tracks like this - plus I want to be doing more vocal songs now - but I didn't have fun with my last 2 posts despite that "Winter Dream" was my most successful to date on this forum and my 3rd best re YT views; then "Iola Tao" which I really struggled with and is in my least favourite few, but so far it's still had more views than this! Like Dave and I'm sure others, it's sooo frustrating when favourite pieces get less views than those far better!
Hey, Marty, why all the talk about stalking? Sting had a number one hit with "Every Breath You Take" that took jealousy and stalking to the top for nine weeks and no one complained! Oh, and how about Daryl Hall's "Private Eyes"?
I feel obligated here to mention Peter Gabriel's "Intruder" . . .
I've noticed that I cannot change the tempo of some songs. You change the tempo and it looks ok but when you click play it reverts to the original setting. What song charecteristics prevent tempo changes? ....adding your own audio?
FANTASTIC blues song! Janice's vocals are absolutely perfect for this genre, plus I love Pete's guitar solo. One of my all time favourite blues songs, in part for the arrangement and superb instrumental break, is Moby Grape's "Miller's Blues" from the late 60s. I think Pete would appreciate the guitar solo.
Thank you for sharing your expertise on the subject Mike. I have been following your quite helpful posts which have been reassuring when switching to new software and hardware on the Mac.
ReSing claims to be the only product that does what it does… Of course not. Like all other AI products, gotta pay for all the data center usage somehow. The pricing is tiered — $130 for the basic package. You want the Vocal Modeling add-on? That’s $150. There’s another $100 for a Producer’s Pack Vol 1and then a slew of Pro Voices that you can hire for one month at a time for $19–$29 per month. There may be more add-ons but I stopped counting. IKM ReSing Unless you pop down the first $280, ReSing is useless for anything other than demos, same as the AI products I already use. At least the one I use most translates MusicXML so I get notes and words—ReSing can’t. Frankly, I miss the 1980s when so many demos all used the same voice — but it was Livingston Taylor (James’s brother) and he is easy on the ears. Haven’t heard a single AI product yet about which I can say the same.
Hans, I hope you don't get many enemies because of this song. You are a brave man speaking with real names and not obscuring the message with euphemisms. Fun lyrics (translation must have lost something, but enough to understand and laugh). Great production, the soloist synth and electric guitar amplify the chaotic mood. And the vocals are excellent, yours powerful as always and Tamar sounds really fresh including all those funny sounds. My rating: Janne
My favorite sailor shows his skills once again. Pleasant and bouncy tune on the sea of life. I really enjoyed the vocals, scatting and imaginative backing vocals. The uplifting message is the lighthouse, and the words like "Through the calm night, we'll be doing what we please." are what we need to be the captains of our lives. Your slogan seems to be "When you listen to Babu Music it lifts your soul" Janne
