Been working with my new piano....LOL. Piano synth. The demo track for style M_BZ128P is outstanding blues. To my ears anyway... Welllll, and say this with great pleasure. "New Button" for page, pretty much wipes out everything. Welllll, tried this and was amazed. I highlighted then deleted the screen contents. Then I entered the blues chords wanted to. And Ya know what, the really cool harmony was automatically built into the music. Complex stuff, 5 simultaneous notes or even more, did not look that far. Both clef's. http://www.mp3cloud.mobi/BluesNoodle.mp3The only FX is the normalize within BIAB render. Nothing else. Wanted to share this "nifty" feature. But also want some serious comments. Is the music sounding pretty good? My ears are better than 3 years ago but the nuances of lot of music do not know.. Also what is the real "Cause" of this nifty operation?

Sounds good to me, meaning that it does not sound "derived" nor mechanical, could envisualize a real live player coming up with those lines. Sometimes BB will let us do things that sound not-so-"real" or rather even impossible for a real pianist to accomplish, which can be dead giveaways to the digital manipulations involved. This one does not do that.

It really DOES sound like a real musician playing... I wouldn't be surprised by that if it were a realtrack, but this is MIDI! The MIDI supertracks are certainly another superior innovation by PGMusic! very impressive!
My only complaint is that I kept waiting to hear vocals, but there were none! (Your song just SCREAMS for a blues singer...)
Nice job. Congratulations to Seeker, to PGMusic and to John Jarvis

You've been hearing MIDI based pianos for a long, long time in many recordings and soundtracks.
A live player, playing a good quality MIDI piano, can rival and sometimes even better a recording made using an acoustic grand piano.
MIDI gets its bad press because too many people only know it as that cheezy little GM synth that comes along with their computer, playing back all sorts of step-entry and free MIDI download files.
For some reason, folks like to blame the technology.
But the MIDI Supertracks ARE handled in the same fashion as the RealTracks. Only difference being the sound source, not the performance.

Hi Seeker,
your blues-mp3 sounds - and is - really great! I wanted to try on the same style file, but I can't find the M_VZ128BP.STY in my bb-folder. I don't undertstand why. Because since years I upgrade with the MegaPAK in december and august. (Well - only few days left for a 2013.5 version, btw.) So - I'll stay with the congratulations for your work and especially the work of the makers of Band-in-the-box! A big thanks!

My BAD...... M_BZ128P
Only excuse to make 2 mistakes was to be excited and so damn late after many hours of work......
The style is a "Midi Supertrack", more recent in the BIAB realm.
And also Thank you, and we can all thank PG Music folks.
Videotrack, Glad you enjoyed and like the tip, that helps keep this forum great!
Pat, Vocals, whats a vocal? And yes it does. Thank you for generous compliments.
Mac, Do understand midi just enough to know the recordings made with John and PG folks were and are outstanding. The super tracks, again quality beyond the Norm. Thanks

Piano sure has a good tone. Could I ask what synth your using to generate the sound please?

Addictive Keys, Upright, front stereo setting. Your right on the good sound, but John Jarvis really brings it out....

Hi Frank, Piano sounds great. I installed the free version of addictive keys after hearing your track. Seems to have nice sounds. However, I'm not able to control the volume (other than muting) from the mixer inside BIAB. Did you have the same problem? Col

Hi Beachboy, yes it seems that it something wit that particular VI, I cannot control the volume nether, unless you go into the edit control of the piano itself and fiddle around with the velocity controls and other controls in there. Not the same as one would with BIB volume controls though.

Your correct on the AK VI, the volume needs to be controlled inside AK. Not wild about that, but will work. For the single track style mentioned, using same upright piano setting, once set seem to work fine. AK seems to hold that level.
Something else, guess it should be expected, but my system albeit very fast only addresses about 3.5 gig. This AK puppy really eats memory. You can handle 2 instances of AK, but then the other VSTi's are also restricted in sample size. Have Dimension pro that has some number of samples about 500 meg. Machine is 64 bit quad OS, and the AK install is in 64 bit folder. ??
Single piano mixed in with samples that are not too big, ya, OK but!
I still love the damn thing, along with PG coding of John Jarvis playing, "far out"...old hippie term, guess.

A quick peek at the Addictive Keys online manual reveals that the "X Mod" parameter must be set by each user, either manually or by using the "Learn" command.
BB uses the standard MIDI Continuous Controller command of CC7 for Volume.
The pic in the manual shows the plugin set to CC11.
If that CC11 is AK's default setting, the BB Mixer or Vol spinner, sending CC7, won't address it.
Try setting AK up for CC7.

re cc7 to Addictive Keys: "I'm afraid those volume faders can at the moment only be automated within a host software (Logic/Pro Tools/Cubase etc.) and not through MIDI values." Quote from XLNAUDIO forum Followed from some angry posts from very disgruntled paying customers. Col

I did try it today with no avail. Got a real bargain price, and so happy with the sounds, not disgruntled one bit.
Only problem and can live with it is the hi resources it takes. Thanks for heads up, I was over there today looking for the subject, to no avail.
FWIW, the "trick" will work just fine with other VSTi piano's. Not locked to AK's.
