RealTracks Artist Bio: Dave Milligan

Jazz pianist and composer extraordinaire, Dave Milligan, started his musical journey at the early age of six, when he became interested in learning piano. Inspired by his family's varied vinyl collection, Dave began exploring different musical genres and blurring the boundaries between jazz, folk, film, and dance.

Known as one of the most highly regarded pianists in Scotland, Dave has taught many classes at institutions such as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Napier University, Newcastle University, and the Irish World Music Centre. He also released a book of piano music, both traditional Scottish scores and original compositions, that is a widely popular teaching tool for those looking to attempt his unique style of playing.

Over the years, Dave Milligan has collaborated with artists such as Simon Thoumire, Colin Steele, Mike Maran, Andy Thornburn, and Catriona Macdonald. He has been a part of the Dave Milligan Trio, Bachué, Stone Islands, and is perhaps most famously known as a founding member of supergroup - The Unusual Suspects!
