Hello members. I'm using BIAB 2009 (Windows) and using Rolands Sonic Cell as my sound and patch
source. When I go to the Song Settings box and Set by Bars sub-box, I am trying to set up patch
changes for a few mid-song choruses. When I go to set the higher level (+) patches, BIAB sees
them and they set up OK. I save the changes and play back the song, no changes, only the BIAB
changes play. I double check and they are there, where I set them. My MIDI set-up is correct, all
sounds come thru the SC. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can look to correct this?
There is somthing I missed to get Sonic Cell to play the patches BIAB is seeing...

Right Midi Channel? I use patches on my voicelive, and I have to set the channel to 5, and the thru cannel to 5, and then when I use the midi monitor button (says MIDI) and filter for ch 5 I can see my patch changes and the box flashes green when received and the chord changes. Of course here: http://www.pgmusic.com/support_miscellaneous.htmyou will find a .pat file for the Sonic Cell. you did download that and then load it into the program right? Just wondering.

Hi J8, That sounds like an old known bug that was fixed. You must not have applied the Update Patch: Quote:
Summary of Changes for Build 282 (January 5, 2009)
Fixed: BarVolume data and some other settings weren't saving if Melody or Soloist track was a RealChart.
Improved: For search and replace, if no rest or push is mentioned in the "replace with" chord, then it will just preserve whatever pushes/rests are there.
Summary of Changes for Build 281 (December 30, 2008)
Added: Higher Bank Patch Support added. (Support for Higher bank Patches, names displayed, Change of patch at any bar (f5), songs and styles can be stored with these patches). If you use a synth like the Ketron, and like to use higher patches that are not GM or GM2, then these features should be useful to you.

Note that the fix for Upper Bank Patches and Hardware Synths was implemented in Build 281 - but you should download and install Build 282, which contains all the good stuff in previous Builds plus adds its own. That way you get all updates available.
And your Upper Banks should then "stick".

Thanks John & Mac. Last night I installed build 287, so I'm hoping that helps. I will also look at both BIAB & SC for correct channel assignment (I think I used ch. 1 for
send and thru). I 'm new to BIAB so I didn't think of the MIDI monitor, but I will
try that today to see if the send is going through. A great tip!! I will post my results
either way.

Well I said I was new to BIAB, as it turned out my BIAB to SC setting were correct,
patch map correct, but when I would go to set up my Settings (for the song) for Patch and Bar changes, I was opening the Settings window at bar #1, the intro
bar, so as the chorus would return to bar #5 to start over, the changes set to go
at a bar 1 return, never went. Looking at the red square arround bar 1, I saw the
return never go over it, so the Patch Change message never got sent.
Thanks for the help, it got me on the right path.

Before you pull your hair out the above mention fix for upper bank patches did not fix the thru channel. It still wont address upper banks. That was just fixed in this cycle.
