Hi all, loving 2011 Ultrapack on the external drive... No more crashes!
I'm writing a song, and wanted to get some ideas for a chorus melody... so I tried the melodist, but I can't get it to make a single squeak. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I've opened the melodist dialogue, tried changing every setting imaginable... when I hit okay, it re-generates the realtracks and then starts playing a few bars before the chorus, which I've specified as a place to start the melody. Then nothing, nada. I try soloing the melody, and it's just silent.
I tried changing it to Whole Song instead of just the chorus, still, nothing. Tried the soloist as well. Nothing. What am I missing here? Everything else sounds great.

Well, considering that the Melodist uses MIDI instruments, perhaps you haven't selected a MIDI output device that works, or that device may be turned all the way down in its Control Panel.
Do you see notes in the Notation View on the track where you wanted to place the Melody?
If you see notes that are highlighting but you can't hear them as the song plays, investigate the Options -> MIDI/Audio... settings to see if your MIDI synth is available and that you have selected one.

Hi Bandmoose,
In addition to Mac's thoughts, did you set the range of bars (and chorus number if you are using multiple choruses) in which you wanted the melody to be created?

> MIDI/Audio... settings to see if your MIDI synth is available and that you have selected one. Thanks for your help Mac, that did it. Gosh darned Real Tracks so good that a hose-head can work for days without even realizing he doesn't have his midi synth selected.  )
