I have searched the forum and haven't seen this posted anywhere but I'm hoping I'm not the only one with this problem and someone can help me. I am using BB 2013 with the latest update. When I use one of the new styles I get the error that I am missing the piano. The style plays but when I solo the piano there is nothing there. How can I have the style but not the piano? I have re-installed the program and all the styles but it hasn't helped.
Any suggestions?
Debby

Hi Debby,
It is a shot in the dark as to *which style(s)*, by name, that you have this problem with.
Please tell us the style names in which this happens so that we can have a better chance at getting to the problem.
Otherwise, anyone attempting to help would be confronted with thousands of styles in the stylepicker and doesn't know if this is something that happens with all styles, a certain type of style, or perhaps with the new Performance MIDI tracks (which is what I suspect but...).
thanks,

If the style uses a RealTrack, the instrument button will be green. It is possible that you didn't purchase or install the particular RealTrack.

I've had a similar problem recently as well and only with the piano. I've found that adding a vst such as the PG dynamics usually brings it out of hiding. Ea=xactly the same thing happens. The piano instrument button is green. Yep the light's on but there ain't nobody in

Furry, that is exactly what is happening to me but the piano button is blue. I'll have to go back and look at the style, so far it's the only one I've found. If there are more I haven't used them as yet. I believe it's style 176 but I can't swear to it. I'll get back on that this afternoon, I have a gig this morning. Thanks for all the replies!

Debbie, if it's blue then you need to use sample tank or similar to hear the midi. Any instrument lit up in blue means it's part of the new midi super styles. Sample tank is included in the latest version

I understand about using sample tank but I have uninstalled it. I can't get it to work, no matter what I do, it will not work. I have uninstalled and installed it so many times it isn't funny.

I've mentioned this before but people still get confused.Just install Sample Tank & leave it alone.Don't do anything. When you call up a Style that has a super midi or just insert a super midi into a track BIAB will automatically take care of the details of playing ST.You don't need to open ST or anything. This is the way PG designed this to work. It's when you start messing with ST on a super midi track that you run into troubles. Of course you can use ST as the default synth or as the synth on a standard midi track but that's a whole other ball game and it is tricky. For the super midi tracks just let it play.Don't mess with it.

...and remember with SampleTank, you have to load the individual instruments. By default, no instruments are loaded. That would certainly be the cause of no sound when using a MIDI instrument. If you don't want to use SampleTank, make sure another synth (Forte, etc) is the default synth.

Rachael this is why people are getting confused. If the track is a super midi track(Blue) YOU DO NOT need to do anything at all with ST. You DO NOT need to load instruments .It is all automatic. If you manually load ST onto a Normal(yellow) midi track then you do need to load a sample into ST.

OK, I give. A SuperTrack style does NOT load any instruments into SampleTank on my computer. When I load a ST style and hit Play, no sound from those blue tracks.

Super Tracks (blue) will automatically play through your deault synth, in my case Coyote Forte. Thats it, nothing more to do. It just plays like any Midi track on my system via the default synth.
If I want to redirect to SampleTank I Right click on the track and select "Select HiQ Midi Patch...". This will then automatically load the predefined SampleTank selections. Very simple.

I understand that. Silvertones made it sound like the SuperTracks will play through ST without first loading the desired instruments. This is not the case on my system. If no instruments are loaded in ST, no sound will play - even loading a SuperTrack style.
Being that I use the same set of instruments for most songs, I created a group of instruments that I load into ST and they stay there until I unload them. Songs that don't use those instruemts are manually assigned specific instruments within the song.
