I thought they had fixed the lowest note of a 4 string bass problem, but I cannot find anything via the forum search feature. Any ideas how to set the lowest bass note to low E?

The default is E2. The setting is in Preferences|Arrange.

In RealTracks, we sometimes go to a lower note, like a D, occasional .
The MIDI styles should never go below an E.

Why go down to D? 5 String bass? Anyway, its really annoying because I double on the real tracks for practice.

Well Wolftone, for some the D comes in handy, especially when working on one of those 5 string Bass tunes that were good in the 60's. (As I do)
To get that 6th string D on my Strat I have to detune it and its useful that RT will give it for the backing track Bass. (makes the PA speakers "rock" too). Before then the midi Bass always went UP to the first available D which always sounded too soprano. lol!

It gets transposed down sometimes. For example, if you've asked for an Eb chord, we might deliver an E transposed down 1 semitone. The same phenomenon happens or all instruments. Since bass players often transpose down to Eb anyway, it's not much of a problem. I agree that it would be a good feature for practicing to force it within instrument range,

The only workaround I use in these cases is, when I come across a note that is lower than the range of my 4-string Bass, I just play that note up one octave. Sometimes necessary to move some of the surrounding notes as well, but that doesn't seem to be all that often. And, it is very good practice for the Bassist, being able to move to the higher octave at will like that. IMO.
