Hi Everyone I've just installed BIAB 2009 and tried one of the Styles with Real Tracks (Jazz Cool Trio). Everything seems fine until I press play and I then have to wait approximately 30 minutes whilst the ttracks are generated. The message on the top of the screen First time use... Unfortunately this happens every time! The tempo of my arrangement is 155 whilst the tempo of this style is 160. I have BIAB installed on computer and Real Tracks installed on the USB drive. Can anyone help me with this, please. Many thanks in advance Mark

Real tracks take time to generated, the generate a bit faster from wav files if you have the disk space and expand the windows files. You can also freeze tracks in 2009 so that they do not generated every time. Freeze tracks This is accessed under the Play menu on the main menu

Mike, You said, "...approx 30 minutes" did you mean 30 seconds? While it does take some time for the tracks to generate I find the time on my machine when working with the wma files to be less than 1 min. I moved everything to wav and that improved, a little. Certainly you have a problem if you have to wait 30 minutes??

Of course, these days, anything that takes longer than 3 seconds on a computer "seems like 30 minutes".

30 minute wait is NOT CORRECT.
If you are truly waiting that long, something's wrong.
On the other hand, a 30 second wait for RealTracks to generate ain't bad.

What Mac said. They didn't that long in the worst days of their introduction. What kind of processor, memory, and hard drive do you have? The speed of any or all of those might be affecting RT generation. (You might also want to make sure you're working with the .WMA files in your Drums and RealTracks folders, as they're rather faster than .WAVs.)

Just tried the Cool Jazz RealTracks Realtracks demo (J085_GB) , using hard drive version, and it took 15 seconds for generation (that is the same time it would take on regaular hard drive).
>> The message on the top of the screen First time use... Could you elaborate on that. What is the exact message... you could take a screenshot and then type the exact message. Also, which version do you have (AudioPhile, Ultra, Everything PAK)
And are you using the US (English) version of Windows?

Try going into the RealTracks settings and selecting 'Install', if you have the disk space. That fixed a similar problem for me, although it was about 10 minutes and not 30 to generate the tracks on my system. It also says it will take care of older .wav files as well (if it finds them). Good luck.

I missed the minute, as 30 seconds is a bout right. If you actually mean 30 min. as everyone has noted there is a problem, however, if you meant 30 seconds than ...
If it is taking that long, you might want to check what type of USB port you are connected to, 1 or 2, what other USB devices to you have connected and are they all playing nicely?

Peter, I'm using the Audiophile version. I have installed BIAB on my hard drive (as an upgrade from 2008) and I am using the wav files on the supplied USB drive. My computer is a Toshiba Satellite A300 using Intel T9300 with 3 GB of Ram installed. Windows Vista Ultimate rates this at 5.0 (whatever that means). I bought the upgrade to Vista Ultimate in UK so I guess this is the OK English version. The messages are... Preparing audio beat array (Bto) Generating RealTracks xx%, Current Track 1/2 xx%. I am also getting messages in yellow to the effect... incorrect BTO beatmap... stretch quality... Unfortunately, the whole system slows to a crawl whilst this is happening (yes, I'm afraid it is thirty minutes!) so taking screenshots doesn't seem to work. Internet problems here ( undersea cables broken) mean that sending and receiving large files is very difficult at the moment. Thanks to all for your assistance in this. Mark

I'm having the same problem as Mark.
and since I'm running from the USB drive, I haven't overwritten the 2008.5 installation, so i have it as a speed comparison. It's true: what takes 30 seconds in 2008.5 DOES take 30 minutes (or more) in the package of 2009 I received today.

for what it's worth, the ship date on my package is Dec 17th, in case this turns out to be batch control problem. (person, process or device that prepares product for shipping did something different to ours, and maybe to others in the same batch. If a rash of similar complaints arises out of the blue, then its a batch problem)
It can't be a program bug or everybody would report the same problem
Ship number is 70W1 01VK VVN In case that helps you track anything

Does this only happen when using real styles? If you generate a song without them is it as expected?
What happens if you point BIAB 2009 at your realtracks you already had installed for 2008.5? (opt/preferences/realtracks - custom folder). Then choose the same song you have tested in 2008.5

For Me it's only Real Styles. I can play an arrangement using the ordinary styles with no problem. As soon as I change to a Real Style the problems start

How about a single realband track? Try setting up just a bass using real tracks on a normal style (right click on bass select Add/Remove realtracks then select one). Where is your installation? You said that you upgraded, is it on your C: drive?

Pat/Mark,
This sounds like a date/time stamp issue with the files in the RealTracks folder ON THE AUDIOPHILE VERSION ONLY, and should be solved from a patch, which Andrew @PGMusic can get to you (online). LIkely something in the copying process changed some file/date stamps.
Could you please check out a sample folder, and tell me if the date/timestamps are all the same - ie) the bt0/ WAV / WMA have the exact same date stamp. For example, for the folder "c:\bb\Realtracks\Bass, Acoustic, Bluegrass Ev 130" do all files have the same date/time stamp?

Peter, I've been in contact with Andrew already and this doesn't appear to be the problem

FYI, this error message will occur if there are .bt0 files missing in the RealTracks folder (or present, but with an older time stamp than the WMA or WAV file)
Every WMA file needs a BT0 file with tempo stretching information. If it cannot find it (or if it is dated older than the WMA file) , the program tries to make it. So you could have a look in your RealTracks folder, and see if you are missing some bt0 files.
We can make a patch that has those missing files, but first would like to see if/why this was only reported by 2 people.
