V 10 or 11 . . .
I have a soundfont I REALLY want to use with PT.
But I can't get ANY soundfonts to work in PT.
I have another midi/audio editor. Set up the soundfont in a couple
minutes. I've spent hours trying to get this soundfont to work in PT.
So my question . . . How do you set up a soundfont in PT?

Soundfonts in PT need a VST Host plugin. Find, download and install a VSTi Soundfont Player plugin. Such as "SF2". http://www.best-free-vst.com/plugins/virtual-instruments/soundfont-sf2-player-01.php There are others. Is important to read and follow the directions regarding which one you choose, also might need to check the directions for installing in PT. --Mac

Depending on the sound font..... I found that many of the ones that were free and some that were not, simply did not work.
I used the SFZ player and sound fonts extensively when I first got started since they were a step up from GM synth sounds...
Once I purchased a few nice sampled synths and sound libraries, I stopped using fonts and players and have not loaded one in a very long time now.

Have'nt been here in ages, but I recently switched from XP to Windows 7, and when I try to load sf2 files into the SFZ player the fonts which I had saved to an external hard drive are not showing up. Having the same problem with VST effects. .dll files are also invisible. Is this a Windows 7 thing or what? I'm using BB 2014 and Real Band.

Check 'Folder Options' on the external drive. It may be set to not display system files.
Go to the drive in Windows Explorer and look around for the folder options ..
In W7 it is often found under Organize - Folder and Search Options .. then the View tab. These check boxes can control what kind of files you can see on a given drive/folder.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
