Hi... I'm back from my fun in the sun and reality sets in. It was 90 degrees yesterday and now it is 40 degrees here at home. Sure is a shock to the system when you get off the plane.

OK... I've heard about the Ketron SD2 module from quite a few people who are recommending it in lieu of the softsynth. I've been looking at it for quite a while on the Web. The one thing that I find strange is that I can't seem to find it here in Canada. My music store here - Steve's Music Store - usually has ANYTHING related to musicical stuff but they're not carrying this unit. My next option is to buy it from the Web... the best price I could find was US $389.00. In fact this seems to be the set price from anyone who is selling it. Anyone know where I can get it for less???

Am I to understand that for one way of connecting it all I need is a USB to MIDI cable and I'm set to go? Sure sounds good if this is so. I'm figuring that I'll be saving some money by getting this instead of the softsynth because I won't have to buy a new keyboard controller.

Bobby,

A member here, (Mac) sells the SD2. Send him a PM about price and any questions you have, just in case he misses this post.

Hi Bobby,
PGMusic, a Canadian company, sells the SD2. Check it out here.

Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

Yes, you can get one right here from PGMusic if you live in Canada.

I recommend getting it from "our" good folks, right here online.

(I am a US distributor for Ketron, though...)

Bobby,
You will need to get *some* sort of MIDI adapter. Unlike some of the newer synths, where you can just plug in a USB cable, the Ketron will not support that. There are USB bus MIDI Adapters, PG Music sells the M-Audio Uno, which I have and like. They are out of stock, but it's a good way to connect to a single MIDI device.

I've been putting off buying the SD2 only because I've lost some hours at work, and hence some income, and I have to cut back on the frills. But, when I get back to 40 hours, I'll be looking at getting one.

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!

Hi all...

OK... I checked out the Ketron SD2 on the PG Music site... although they are selling it from here in Canada, I still have to pay for it in US dollars... sigh... Oh well. As for the connection cables... I have a brand new USB to MIDI connector cable that looks the exact same as the one on the PG site and so I'm good to go as far as that's concerned. I should also mention that the price for the module is $10.00 cheaper than any I have been looking at elsewhere. I guess that will make up for the exchange rate somewhat.

Thanks for all the help... I'm going to order it this afternoon.

Bobby
