I am working on a couple sets of songs to do live with RB, and they start with .kar files that i process. One issue is that some are way louder than others. Is there a way in RB to level the volumes with multiple song files?

The only thing I know of is the Edit-change velocity command, but it is only for midi and not a true volume normalizeing. It would help to a degree I guess, but would be of more help if all your midi files were pre normalized with volume and velocity settings when you imported them into your RB program. Heck of a lot of work though. Maybe just put a volume pedal between your laptop and the sound system?

Ideally you should be converting to mixed down audio files, mp3 or wma, bitrate at 128 or better, then Master those files using an Audio Editing Suite that contains a Normalize or Master Limiter function.

A plus is that there would be no need to try to run RealBand onstage, you can use any sort of player that you like. '

The reason i run RB is that i can allow the chords and lyrics window to run, it give a bit a a reminder and allows me to have guest players up for some songs without a whole ton of rehearsal.

I guess that I can still mix down some of the midi tracks and do a lot more work on them, still leaving the words track intact.

I don't know if we're talking the same thing here... but... I have just about finished a song in RB... I added a Real Track... strumming guitar. However, the volume is too low on that track. How can I make it louder? I have read that "edit > velocity" is only for MIDI. Even though, I tried it before I read it... and of course it doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated!

If you added the RealTrack, then you now have an audio track (versus a MIDI track), so changing MIDI velocity obviously won't work. You can adjust the level of that RealTracks audio track a couple of different ways. You could add, for example, the PGDynamics DX effect, or you could select "Edit, Audio Effects, Gain Change" to change the level. The first is non-destructive; the second is destructive.

This is what I do. Mix tracks into a wave file. I then right click on the track and select effects audio gain change and adjust the gain until the wave form fills up about 90 percent of the track. The volume seems the same on the cd's I create.
