I was just about to start a new song and was looking for a style. I was planning on using Real Tracks in the song. However, whenever I would pick a style and audition it, I get a message that BIAB cannot use Real Drums because there isn't a file in the bb folder called "enter the style name I've picked" in the bb/drums/style name. Also, when I open up the style picker window it shows "Styles with Real Tracks (All) (0) I know for a fact that the Real Styles, Real Tracks and Real Drums are in the bb folder - I just finished looking at them all with Windows Explorer. How come BIAB can't see them?

TIA

First thing, do a full reboot of the computer, as resources sometimes get out of whack.

If that doesn't to it:

Might be time to try the old Opts -> Return to Factory Settings inside BIAB.

Likely you have a c:\bb\drums folder, but it doesn't contain a folder called "enter the style name I've picked"

BB can likely see the RealTracks. But you likely don't have any STYLES that use RealTracks in your c:\bb directory. These are styles that begin with an equals sign (=) indicating some RealTracks, or an undersore (_), indicating All RealTracks.

For example, do you have c:\bb\=GeorgeP.sty ?

Maybe you installed those styles to the wrong place, search your hard drive for =*.sty and _*.sty

You can manually add RealTracks to your song by right-clicking at the top, on the instrument names. That will confirm to you that BB can see and use the RealTracks, and that the problem is the styles that use the RealTracks are not present.

Looking closely at the situation, I have a feeling that the problem may be in my setup of the last song I did. In it I told BIAB that I didn't want to use RD or RT. Now I have to find where I made these choices. BUT... does BIAB save these settings from song to song? Perhaps I should know this before I start pulling my hair out looking for them? As for assigning real tracks... I right click on strings for example to assign pedal steel for example. It tells me that there are no Real Tracks available. But when I click on "show RealTracks that are NOT available" I get the list.

As for Mac's suggestion... I did restore BIAB to the factory settings even before I posted - and rebooted... it didn't work.

TIA...

Check your RealDrums and RealTracks Control Panels (RealDrums is the toolbar icon drum w/waveform in it, RealTracks are a sax) and see if the top choice is unchecked, that would keep things from being generated.

Nope... the top choice is checked. If I reinstalled BIAB, would it reinstall with the same settings or would it start off fresh? Just looking for a quick fix.

You should make sure that RealDrums and RealTracks are enabled (if the instrument color is green at the top, the they are enabled)

Perhaps your Realfiles are in another location than where BB is currently being told to look.

The Control Panels also control that.

Edit-Prefs-RealDrums settings, and then point to the correct folder that contains your RealDrums (c:\bb\Drums)

Edit-Prefs-RealTracks settings, and then point to the correct folder that contains your RealTracks (usually c:\bb\RealTracks)

Since you mentioned that you already did a Options-Reset to Factory, then these would be set to c:\bb\RealTracks and c:\bb\Drums, so if that isn't where they are, you would need to correct that.

Still no luck. The re-install of BIAB worked out as I expected... it just re-installed with the same settings. I have gone into the RealTracks settings and made sure that it was pointed to the right folder. In my case I have installed everything pertaining to BIAB and RealBand on my D: drive and so everything is in D:/bb. I installed it here when I first go the program and have never had any problems before now. When I want to install a realTrack I get the whole list of them - but they're all listed as "N/A". I KNOW they're there. I have the UltraPac so not having them isn't an issue. Hmmm...

Bobby,

>> everything is in D:/bb

The correct name would be d:\bb (not d:/bb) , make sure that you have set that correctly.

1. How many ST2 files do you have beginning with R in your d:\bb folder. For example, d:\bb\RealSax.st2 ... is that there.

>>> it just re-installed with the same settings. I have gone into the RealTracks settings and made sure that it was pointed to the right folder.

It likely *isn't* pointed to the right folder, so I would check that again.
Please tell us , in the Edit-Prefs-RealTracks Settings dialog,

1. what the following blue label says in that dialog:
"Custom RealTracks folder , instead of xxxxxxxxxxxxx) <-------- what does the XXXXX say on your machine.
2. Do you have "Use a custom folder for RealTracks" selected or not.
3. If you do have that selected, what is typed in the edit control below it..

Also, what build # are you using (Help- About box)
