Yes. With about 4 GB to spare. If you go that route, you would install the DVD's to the USB Hard drive.

The other option is to (instead of spending $99 on DVDs), spend $149 and get the upgrade from Ultra (HD or DVD version) to UltraPlus HD(160GB) . That includes everything pre-installed (so you don't need to copy from your old HD to the new one). You keep your old HD, which offsets the extra $50 ($149 instead of $99).

FWIW my current bb folder, Properties, tells me I have about 65g in there. Give or take, there may be some rogue wma, mp3 or wav files in there also, from beta testing and the like.

So IMO they will fit, but just barely because I like to leave freespace of about 20% or so on any drive, for reasons that should be obvious, fragmenting, overhead, etc.

This is NOT the Audiophile addition with the WAV files, though. Although I did convert several RealTracks to wav just to test things during beta tests. So my report is likely a wee bit on the high side, which in this case should be viewed as a good thing, "worst case scenario" and all that.

Properties reported 65gb, with a rather cryptic, "69,xxx,xxxbytes" being reported on the same line.

These USB drives are getting larger and more economical every day, I might just pick up a larger one and dedicate it to BIAB now, something with a fullsized 7200rpm disk with at least 8mb buffer in it, I'll bet RealTracks load a bit faster then, especially if I do it with FireWire as vs USB2...

Yes, the 4 GB to spare is referring to the factory shipped disk, so if files have been saved to it, those would get subtracted. It should all fit on the typical disk though, and if it didn't there are various options available. (moving Drums folder to C:\ drive etc., deleting a few realtracks etc.).

1. If it was me ordering, upgrading an existing BB Ultra 2009 (or Everything) hard drive I would consider that $149 drive (160GB), since you'll then end up with a plug n play solution, an extra hard drive, and 84GB free on the 160GB drive (for the extra $50 you pay over the $99 DVD edition of the Summer PAK).

2. BTW, we have the same solution for the audiophile upgrade (upgrading a previous audiophile version to current audiophile) - $199 for the works installed on a 1 TB drive (though the 1 TB drive needs an AC plugin)

I should point out that these 2 options above are not listed on the online ordering page yet. That should happen today, and you would need to phone us if you'd like to place that order sooner, or modify an existing order (888-PG-MUSIC)

I guess that plug n play is the way I should go because it is so much easier. But what is that AC plugin exactly? Will I need a transformer or plug converter, or something?

I suppose the other thing that interests me is, what will happen in December? Another drive for 2010 audiophile?

Hi Graham,

>>> Will I need a transformer or plug converter, or something?

The tech specs of the adaptor input are : 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 0.6A

No transformer would be required for any country. You would need a plug converter, since the power supply can accept 110-220V, so would work in Australia. Those types of adapters are available in most electronic stores for $10-20. The adapter as shipped is for North America plugs, so adapters like this would be needed for non NorthAmerica.

(note that this discussion only applies to the Audiophile version, which is a 1TB drive. The "regular" hard drive is a portable USB drive, which doesn't need a plug, as it is USB powered.

2 bugs with this version:

1) if I right click on a bar and select Bar Settings, then Cancel out, my previous song changes/additions vanish. Fortunately I found that doing it again restores them. Scary though!

2) In the Chord Builder, previewing chords produces the same tone no matter what chord or augmentation I select.

Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 HiFi sound card

Hello Texrat,

I couldn't duplicate those. If possible, please send a step-by-step example and/or sample song file to support@pgmusic.com, and we can look into it further. Perhaps it is something specific about the file you're working with.

Hi everyone.

This is my first time posting, but I have been reading some of the posts and have been learning from them. Anyway, I am trying to decide which to purchase: BIAB or PTPA.

I am in a quartet and I want to be able to sing a melody line thru a mic into the program and have the program add 3-part harmony to it. Being able to tweak the harmony parts manually and to print out the parts would be a plus. Can anyone offer a suggestion on which I should buy?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Stockerup

Welcome to the forum, Stockerup

If that is ALL you want to be able to do, then the latest version of PTPA will more than suffice to suit your needs
