Got the new Biab 2010 on a hard drive. I backed it up yesterday on a seperat WD Passport Drive and run i from there. That works fine. Now I compared my old Biab Folder on C: with the new Biab programm and found out, that some folders of my older versions are missing in the 2010 version. I once bought the Add On discs etc. So I copied the missing folders from C to my external drive. That worked fine and I can now see the add ons in my practice window.
But one thing does not work for some reason. The Soloist Disce 12-15 are shown as missing stuff, eventhough I copied them in the bb folder on my external drive. Any idea why that is so? It only shows 1-11 and 16-20 when I let the program check and show me, what I have.
One more question. Since I made the backup copie 1to1 I now that the different folders exactly as on the original Biab drive. Is ist possible to put these folders on the WD drive in one folder e.g. Biab 2010 or wont the programm not run than anymore? Since my WD drive is a 500 drive and I would like to put other stuff on it too, it would be easier to put all Biab files in one folder.
So long, mos

Hi there, Soloists 12 to 15 are Andy Laverne and Jeff Lorber specials and don't come with the standard package. The EverythingPAK contains Soloist 12 and 13, but not 14 and 15. Soloists 12 to 15 were bundled with some specials a few years back and may now be purchased separately as Artist Soloist Series. Since you copied them to your external drive it seems you have these soloist sets anyway. Try the most recent BB 2010 patch, which takes care of some missing entries in the StylePicker. Hopefully it takes care of the Soloist Sets as well; don't know. With respect to copying stuff onto your external HD, I'm not quite sure I understand the question thoroughly. Usually there is no problem copying additional stuff to this HD. With respect to file organization, I'd prefer to leave the BB folders alone and stuff any custom Song files into their own project subdirectories under X:\BB-Songs\, say. There's no problem stashing additional folders into the BB directory, though.

MartinB, thanks for the answer. Yes, I have these style discs from older versions. I already installed the newest patch from biab, but these few styles still don't show up.

Hm ... those are Soloist files, not exactly Styles; they thus are not expected to show up as styles. You might check on 'Help/What add-ons do I have?...' and see what's listed there under the Soliost Disk Sets section - you should be able to select those Soloists via the Soloist button.
Rereading your original post, I assume you likely already did just that. Don't know what happened - in cases where the mischief got into the system, a fresh installation or a reset to factory settings often irons out wrinkles.

Files seemingly associated with the Andy Laverne and Jeff Lorber Soloists are -> AL_Pent.ST2 AL_Mains.ST2
JL_Fusn.ST2 JL_Guit.ST2
Soloist 12 Demos - Andy Laverne Mainstream Soloist 13 Demos - Andy Laverne Pentatonic
Do those files and folders show up in your BB directory?

Hi simplysax,
what I do to retain everything in my bb folders, inclusive of my song folders, any addons, etc. is to use the Installer on the USB drive to install the new BB version right overtop of the old version, in the same old folder where it used to live.
After doing that, it is safe to move or copy that entire folder to an outriggger drive and you should have everything you used to have snug, safe and intact, plus any updgrade files.
The Lorber Soloist came originally on an Install disk or from Install on a drive and that's the only way I know to put it into a BB that did not have it installed. This is one of the few places where simply copying doesn't work for BB files. But the above does.

@MartinB, thanks, that was the important hint. I had copyied the complete folders but did not know, that I had to copy the
AL_Pent.ST2 AL_Mains.ST2
JL_Fusn.ST2 JL_Guit.ST2 These where missing on my WD hd. Now, everything is fine. I have all add on's. Thank you so much for your help!

Next upgrade, try my trick as above.
After years of my own styles, songs, addons and upgrades, it is much simpler in the long run to do it that way.

@Mac, yes, I will try that next time. Thanks! You know, running Biab from a hd is totaly new to me. So after reading several posts here, I learned that the original hd is not that good of quality. So I bought one to make a backup of the original biab hd. While I opend up biab the first time from the hd drive I recognized in the add on's window, that stuff was missing I used to have. I thought it is always everything completed in my new version. Since I had the ultrapack. So after discovering that there was something missing, I searched for these folder on my c: drive. Than I copied them. So that was doing it the hard way . But now, I have everything on my wd drive and am happy. Now I don't know, I I shall install all these files also on the original biab hd. That way I have all my biab stuff together. Before the newest version of biab I had it spreaded on 3 different points on my pc. Since I'm buying for years, like lots of us, always the update. So I have several update files all over the place. Having it now all together makes it easier and I could delete the rest from my computer. Other sad thing is. That I cannot run e.g. the Metronom program on my hd drive. This one I have to install on c: Right now I'm trying to figuere out the best way to have it all in one place.

Chalk that notion up to rumor and propaganda. Or maybe, "Feeling, nothing more than feelings..." <grin>
"Several" is not statistically significant.
The fact is that PGMusic is shipping only high quality japanese brand name drives - Toshiba, Fujitsu, Hitachi, etc.
Forums can be that way, you only see the posts from people having problems. That can lead you to believe all sorts of dire things. The fact is that you don't see how many people are NOT having problems for there would be no reason for them to post for help. And you can rest assured that, statistically speaking, there are far more people enjoying fine operation from their PGMusic supplied USB hard drives than those having problems. Those having problems could be having them for any number of reasons also. Shipping companies are not known for handling with a lot of care, so much so that it is a common joke, right? Then there are the statistical levels of what we engineers must label, "acceptable failure rates" for such devices. That is also statistically low. The one other thing to consider is User. That can throw all sorts of compications into the equation, many of which will and are rarely mentioned by the user with the complaint. Maybe the user has been ripping the USB out of the socket with no regard for a proper dismount. This is one of those things like Lightning Protection, you can get away without it up and until the time when Lightning does strike and then its all over.
Statistically, I know that it is a very safe bet that the number of folks experiencing hard drive failures with the PGMusic supplied USB drives has got to be a fractional percentage. And I'm not a betting man, but I'd bet the Rent Money on that one (grin).
That said, one should always back up *any* data stored on anything. That is just part and parcel of using the computer IMO.

@Mac, yeah, you are right. My original hd works just fine. But I'm glad I ran the program from my backup hd this morning, when a mistake occures and I could not open up biab 2010 at all anymore. So I had to reinstall everyhing again on my backup hd and now it works great again.
If I hadn't had this backup, I gues I'd been in serious trouble, if I had ruined my original Biab hd disc with a bug. Now put the original one back in it'S box, where it stays nice and save and if I ever have a problem again, I'll get it out of the box.
