Is anyone else having a problem copying sections of a song to another section? I have a bridge part I want to put later in the song, so I use edit/copy from.. to.. , copy from bar 33, bars to copy = 4, copy to bar = 101, time to repeat = 1, insert bars at location = on, # times to repeat = 1, chorus = 1, and copy everything. It then asks me if I want to copy over existing lyrics and melody line which strange since I am inserting bars where there shouldn't be any. I hit the copy button, and it inserts 4 blank bars, but no chords. It put the melody in there, but no lyrics, and the melody and lyrics in the following bars did not get moved when the 4 bars were inserted, so they are out of sync.

I tried doing it manually by using edit/insert bars (4 bars at 101). Now the melody and lyrics in the bars 105-120 get shoved forward properly. Then I did a alt-C for bars 33-36, alt-v to bar 101 to copy the 4 bridge bars. That only copied the chords, but not lyrics or melody. That also knocked the existing melody and lyrics out of sync.

I've tried re-booting, reset to factory settings, restart BIAB. Can someone else do a quick test? I have to stop working. I can't proceed with this song.

First make sure that none of the Tracks are Frozen (Asterisk "Snowflake" * before the TrackName).

Try hitting New and see if the Copy and Paste after Insert Bars will work in a New songfile. You don't have to enter an entire song to test that, just enough to see if it will work. Could even just open an existing Demo Song and give it a whirl that way, just be sure to use SaveAs and give that song a new filename so you don't overwrite the existing pgmusic Demo Song.

If it will work in a New Songfile, then suspect the songfile in question as having become corrupted. May have to start it over from the beginning, unfortunately.

If the routine does not work in another "pristine" songfile as suggested, then suspect a bug in the program, setup, Preferences Settings or the like.

I tried your suggestion with a demo song, and the copy function works correctly with that. My song file is corrupted. I'll try making a standard midi file of my song, then import it into a new song and rebuild it from there. Thanks for the help.

Actually there is nothing wrong with my song file. I rebuilt it from scratch and the same problem is happening. I sent the file to tech support. I was only successful copying the bridge bars later in the song by manually inserting 4 blank bars, then using "copy.. from.. to" for the chords only. When I use it for lyrics and the melody, they get of sync after the insertion point. Also, there's a message asking me if I want to delete existing lyrics and melody where I'm inserting onto those new bars--- this doesn't make sense, nor does it solve the problem.

Did you not check out the Tips & Tricks forum? Here's a video from the man himself explaining exactly how to do this.

Copy using drag and drop of part markers

Thanks for those links explaining the drag and drop method. I just tried it and it's giving me the same result. I have to use ctrl-drag to open a window and click on the "insert bars" option, like I was doing before. It inserts the chords, lyrics, and melody correctly, but the lyrics and melody are out of sync after the inserted bars. Tech support has my song file. Hopefully, they can figure this out. It's an unfolded song at 118 bars-- maybe a bug shows up for long songs.

I have experienced similar problems and the fix appears to use the "insert bars at destination" option or to manually insert the bars so they have a place to go. It may also have something to do with existing melody notes and the delete melody option.
