So let me get this straight, you want a business to give you a discount for a new product, that you bought last year, and they want you to pay full price. Darned Nazi's how dare they ask there marketed price for a product that you want!

Darn i think i swing by the chevy dealer and see if i can pay less for a car than they are asking.

Hey by the way what did you do for a living, maybe we could all swing by and get your services for less that the offered price, cause i we said so.

Guess what J.C. Penny's is having a Christmas sale, maybe you can get them to give it to you now and the rest of us can pay full price. Even better, why not give everyone the sale price and then charge full price in December!! Yeah that's right.

Let's say i am a gardener, and i charge $20 per week to cut your grass, and trim and edge. Why don't i just give it to YOU for say $15!!

As far as PG music goes, they have sales every year, and we all know when those are. You certainly know since you have been buying since version 1!!! So why doesn't Peter just charge the rest of us full price and give YOU the sale price when the sale is not on, just cause you want it! That's the fair thing to do!!

So if you can't have something others, don't get you will go elsewhere? Really, you are more important than them?!? Really Wow. See folks that is one of the wrongs in this world, Entitlement!

I don't know; based on this post, something tells me that if the demand had been made, err..., I mean if the question had been asked, a little more nicely, PGMusic may have been a little more accommodating.

Hey bud, you decided to build up here!
You must like driving!

We all abide by the same pricing arrangements - and happy about it. A good company well worthy of our loyalty.

I'd suggest an attitude adjustment before you settle in "up here" - or you will be one lonely cowpoke in your retirement.

Best. Ian

I guess i shouldn't be so hard on the fella, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I sounds like he sort of stopped by on the way somewhere with Hard drive in hand, and wanted them to stop what they were doing and load him up with the newer version for cheap.

If I am getting this wrong I am sorry, but that is what he said. Just seems a bit presumptuous to me.

I would not go by a good friends house and ask him to give me some of his work services for cheap.

I kind of have a policy in business. What i do for a living i expect to be paid for, and i expect to pay others for their services. If someone asks me to help with something outside my work scope i am happy to help. Example i used to be an alarm installer, and someone wanted an alarm installed i gave them a price to do it. If someone wanted me to help them move, or repair a door, or their drywall, whatever i came over and we got it done. Just my take.

Roknroot has been around since 2004, and has posted 5 times, so obviously he is not big on forums, but has used the software for a while, so i don't mean to be offensive, but it does not seem right to expect more than the going price. Like i said above it is like walking into a store and saying " I like these blue jeans, and since i have been a loyal customer of this store i want them for less that the stated price. Less than what others are paying that day.

Maybe he felt that since he had brought in his used hard drive that he deserved a discount, but what that doesn't take into consideration is that that is not their work flow. Some one has to stop what they are doing and plug the hard drive in, make sure it is formatted properly for a full load, and load it. Now they are once again responsible for it if something goes wrong.

The factory is NOT the place to try to get a discount. Any factory is not the olace for that.

The sales system works differently.

Typically, the factory will not discount below the stated retail price (although PGNusic does indeed do that for typically the first month after a new release) and that is because their dealers would go through the roof and stop stocking their products if the factory was undercutting the dealers.

Just the way it works.

If you are looking for a sale price in between the PGMusic discount period after a new release, best to contact dealers and not the factory. There is a recent thread in the Off Topic forum about this, with a link to a dealer who is selling at a discounted price. Some thought this dealer was not legit. The dealer is legit. They can buy in bulk at wholesale pricepoints and then they are free to sell the unit for whatever price they wish to sell it for. The factory cannot do that and stay in business for long as they would alienate -- and lose -- their dealer base.

Ok, and you're going to replace it with what exactly?

Let me see, you drove 2,500 miles up from Texas just to get a discount from PG? You probably are visiting relatives or want to see Bouchard Gardens or maybe you caught a float plane to do some hunting, right? Then you want that discount to be based on the fact you bought the hard drive last year with of course last year's version even though PG doesn't have any special discounts going on right at this time.

I have a feeling if you showed up at PG Music's door in Victoria with the attitude you showed here nobody would even talk to you and I don't blame them. Like someone said if you showed up talking about how great the product is, how much you appreciate everything they've done etc, etc you might have gotten somewhere.

There is no 2011 to 2011.5 UltraPak upgrade?

I've been away for a while, but I'm working on a song, and I wanted to see what new RTs and stuff were available. There are 101 new RTs available for 2011.5, and the upgrade pricing was $99 through July 31st. Okay, I missed the sale, but are these tracks not available now at a 'regular' price, or are we just to close to release of 2012 to make any difference?

Gary

There is more to it this time Gary; the whole program changed which stretching/pitch adjustment algorythm it is using. So the new tracks may not work with older versions. Made things complicated on that front. Plus side is that the new tracks (and even retro for the old tracks) take MUCH less space. Down to 30 gig for all realtracks before the recent addition. New engine can strecth farther with less artifacts, so less realtrack recordings are needed.

The stretching/pitch thing occurred in 2011 release. The big things in the 2011.5 release was the floating mixer, remote app for iPhone, pedal bass and 101 new realtracks.

Well,
I guess what I need to know is, since I have 2011 Ultra Pak, which takes me up to Real Tracks 121, is there no 'Upgrade Pak' to take me to 2011.5, with all the current RD and RTs?

Bob, I'm at about 41 gigs in my C:\BB folder, but that also has a lot of junk and songs and stuff in it.

I just used the Live Chat, and currently there is not upgrade for what I wanted, so I'm just going to wait until December and upgrade to 2012. Probably cost me a bit more, but that's okay.

Gary

Sorry Gary, didn't realize you were that current that the new engine wasn't a factor.

I'll be content to comment on the QR code in Gary's avatar. Cool use of technology. If you don't know what I'm talking about, get one of the smartphone scanners and scan it. Gary, nice cat on the SONY.

Suddenly I don't seem so bad, right guys?

I was stunned to the point where I had to read that post 5 times to make sure I was really seeing what I was seeing.

Gotta be honest, if you can afford to build a cabin for your retirement, I am less than sympathetic when you find it appalling that you, a customer, have to pay like the rest of us, also customers.

I have found this whole BIAB community to be nothing less than compassionate, understanding, wonderful people who allowed some hothead in Ohio his rants and understand that they were a product of other frustrations and pressures. And that doesn't even factor in the level of writing talent and musicianship here.

There was a guy here in my area named Phil Palumbo. Phil was a great sax player and overall entertainer. He played Vegas for years and had a jumpin' night club here in Ohio. Back in 1986 I was playing the "big" room when his band was playing the little room. Every break he would come over and listen. One night he came over to me and said "You play that horn pretty well young man but if you will allow a suggestion, you are blowing too hard." And I smiled and said "Hey old man, you calling me a blowhard?" When he died 14 years later I had still NEVER heard him say anything more negative to a musician, no matter how much they sucked, than "Just keep working at it. This takes time." And I promise you he heard some bad ones.... I miss Phil.

That story just seemed to fit here. To call a company greedy because they charge their set price.... no comment.

Just curious. Are the people building your cabin giving you any breaks?

Hey Matt! Thanks. I use the QR code because some people actually do know what it is, and what it's for. Plus, I can get a lot of information on a web page instead of in a tiny avatar

Sammie's my baby. She likes walking on my keyboard when I'm trying to play, so she must be a musical cat.

I'll try to be around more often.
