Use the DXi part of the thing to load VSTi synthesizers. You will find them at the bottom of the list same as for VST effects if you put the .dll files into the right folder.

To put them on an individual track, hit the little triangle at the beginning of the track in Tracks view, you should be able to find the DX button from there.
