I prefer Pat Martino, actually. For the Bebop/Modern Jazz influence.

But anybody whose playing interests you, that's the one you should work towards transcribing.

In the world of jazz improvisation, we stand on the shoulders of all those who came before us and the way to learn is to transcribe, transcribe, transcribe until you have your own pallet of licks and phrases that can be superimposed over the changes at will.
