I've been asked to do a track for a friend that is made up of quite a few odd time sigs. This is a link to the pdf https://www.box.com/s/sfjur161m2x1ojkk8hg5 What's the best way to go about doing this in BiaB. I would only need a Bassline and Drums of some descrption.. any ideas would be very welcome..Thanks Chris..

Hi Chris,
If you have one of the later versions of BB, just set it up for 4/4 time by selecting an appropriate 4/4 style, then Rightclick on the first bar and select "Bar Settings" - in the Bar Settings window you will find a place to change the number of beats in a bar. Sometimes it sounds better to use two smaller bars to make up a 5/4 or 6/4, depending on desired pulse for the tune. For example, a bar changed to 3 beats followed by a bar changed to 2 beats can yield a 5/4 that has the pulse of the famous, "Take Five" song by Dave Brubeck. Two bars of 3 might make a 6/4 sound that works, or perhaps 3 bars of two. Experiment if you have to do so.
Continue on like that to cover the rest of the song.
Important to realize that this will force BB to play the song as desired, but doesn't make a notation sheet that musicians would desire to read. But you already have a lead sheet there.

Hi Mac, thanks for the quick answer. I have BiaB2013. I had a try at doing what you said. before i posted the question. i used the f5 button. if I set the tune to a 4/4 style, then tried to enter a value larger than 4 it said incorrect value and wouldn't except it. I tried using the smaller values but it was kinda rushed last night so I will try that one again today. Will post back as to what happens..

RealBand is easier to do this, click the time signature and select the time you want. Rharv and I made a 7/4 song out of a 4/4 style with no more than that. Here is a link to the song. Count Me Out

Mac, just finished the tune off. Using smaller bar settings worked vey well. Still had an issue using larger figures than 4 though. Could be because the original sig is 4/4.

Here's the issue: The patterns in a 4/4 style don't contain any data after the 4th beat. Why would they?
So using bars that oontain less than 4 beats, there's note data available to use.
