I have a Yamaha Tyros 2. It is a bit difficult to find new styles (contemporary artists) for this keyboard.

May I ask if I can use BIAB styles on the Tyros?

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

BIAB styles are not the same as Yamaha styles. What it should be possible to do, though is to use midi styles in BIAB to create a midi arrangement. This arrangement could then be fed into the keyboard as midi and Yamaha instruments could be assigned to the different midi tracks that BIAB uses.

Hi. Take a look at the following website; http://www.psrtutorial.com/index.html There are a number of midi software programs there that can change midi files to Tyros files, as well as many new styles offered by the sites' members. Hope that may help.

Win11, Intel i7 7700K 4.2Ghz, 32Gb RAM, 2x1Tb HD, 500Gb NVMe, BIAB/RB 2026, MOTU 828MK3 audio, MOTU Midi Express, Yamaha Montage 7, DX7II, TX802, Motif XS Rack, Roland Fantom XR Rack, Oberheim Matrix 1000, VoiceLive3 Extreme, Kontakt 6, SampleTank 4.3

Thank you. So it means that I will enter the chords in BIAB, choose a style, edit the way I want and export it as a midi file.

In the 2nd stage, I can use a software that converts midi files into a Yamaha style file.

Thanks a lot.

Don't forget to use midi-based styles. Realtracks will not save any midi information because they are audio.

I'll this in case you are not aware. Styles with Realtracks begin with "_" or "=". Midi styles have nothing preceding the name.

Also, if you are requiring drums to be midi, it will be necessary to disengage the 'substitute' option found under Opt | Preferences | Realdrums

All the best,
Noel

Or,

Connect your midi cable to your PC, open Biab, set up the midi driver/soundcard (I used XG) ports and have Biab playback through your Tyros.

That is what I used when I had my Tyros. The midi instruments in the Tyros will sound much better then using the PC's midi sounds.

There are some older Biab styles on the PSR Tutorial that were set up to use with Yamaha instruments. It is much easier to set up your song in Biab, then export as a midi file. You can then re-assign the Cool, Live voices to the parts and have it sound mahhhhhvelous. ;-)

This is the *easiest* way to enjoy Band in a Box and your tyros keyboard IMO.

No fussing around making MIDI files, etc. - but you have to be able to have the computer and BiaB available wherever you intend to perform. Use of a laptop can make this a portable setup for use in live performance or travel.

You won't be able to do any realtime arranger playing by holding chord in lh though, BB does not do that. On the other hand, BB makes autoaccompaniment from your chords entered onto the chord grid and you can thus still play along with the BB performance.

Hi,
I've created Korg styles from BIAB midi styles. Fair bit of work & style knowledge required.

Michael Beddersoms Style Maker Software actually has a section that creates psr styles from BIAB midifiles, includes templates for doing so.
It's been years since I've tried it. I do remember though getting some very mixed results. Depends on the BIAB style itself. Some work out reasonable, a lot a downright unuseable
http://psrtutorial.com/MB/stylemaker.html

Read thru the info, I'm guessing it will tell you which midi channels are required for the various style parts, also you don't create midi's with chord changes ( except for creating an intro or ending) With my korg styles I usually based the variations on a Cmaj7th Chord, same should work for psr ( I did a number of early psr to korg style conversions, and in midifile style format, they're sort of similar)
Also bear in mind, I don't think psr's recognize sustain (controller 64) wheras BIAB styles do use it, means that parts that do use sustain can sound a bit choppy. One way to get around it is to lengthen the notes. Even more work.

Anyway good luck.
