Oh and the current install should check and determine that it won't work and refuse to try and install it. I hope that the error messages and the fact I now get warnings is not going to affect my system. Thus the install script should check the o/s or prompt the user Or automatically refuse to try and install the software.

Bear in mind that VSC is long in the tooth and developed by Edirol...
Don't know if Edirol is even supporting it anymore.
A decent DXi/VSTi Soundfont player plugin that includes a base GM set of good samples might be a good thing for inclusion in future, dunno.
A long time ago I experimented with replacing the .DLS sounds in the microsoft software synth with other ones that sound better. Wasn't that hard to accomplish, but its been awhile and I do not know if that is even possible under Vista in its many guises. DLS is "DownLoadableSounds" -- a microsoft term -- turns out they are identical to Soundfont files with a different suffix on 'em.

It's way easier to render than to use the ketron, so I decided against taking XP off my big laptop and run just linux. It's all the fast render of a folder using Dxi.

Here is a workaround for people who are trying to use a VST in BIAB in 64-bit Windows. I am running BIAB in 32-bit mode on Windows 7 RC 64-bit. It runs fine in Windows 7 by the way. The only problem was getting a 32-bit VST sound driver loaded. As noted the Edirol Dxi VSC is not found under any 64-bit Windows and as a result, you get stopped by the screen that says it can't find any Dxi and therefore never get to load your VST. In another thread I learned that the Forte driver works so I downloaded the demo from pgmusic.com. It was found and works fine. Once I had access to the Dxi panel, I could then specify my VST driver... in my case Purity by Luxonix, which I prefer to Forte. Once loaded it works fine. I suspect this workaround may work for anyone else who has gotten stuck trying to load their VST driver in 64-bit Windows.
