Hi all. Have received a prompt Amazon delivery of a new MS Surface Pro 2 128GB And wow!!! Its amazing, just like a miniature laptop! Have already installed BB on it but for some reason it wont let me type the chords in using the onscreen keyboard, not had any problems on other progs ,although i'll probably have to get the proper keyboard for it anyway. I have even been able to install my old Hoyle Card and Board games on it and they work fine, and its windows 8.1 as well! Once i get some vsts on it i should be doing tracks before long so i'll let you know how i get on. Cya.

Hi. Solved the problem with the on-screen keyboard, I was pressing it wrong! So I can type the chords in OK now. Also I have connected a USB external DVD drive to it,and it works perfectly on the Surface, what a product!! Will keep you all informed how I go on with it. Bye.

Hi again. Still very impressed with Surface pro 2,now I have put most of my regular vsti's on it and they are working well,no lagging as such and no memory problems at least with the music software anyway. I'll do another update in a week or so. Cya.

Count me in! I have been looking at doing the same. Currently I am posting my music scores and lyrics on a 7" tablet as an experiment. It works but the screen is too small and will not run BIAB. I want to use the Pro on a music stand and be able to BIAB as well as music scores. I will be most interested how the generated BIAB sounds as the backup band!DennisD
There are only 3 kinds of musicians: those that can count, and those that can't! PC AMD A4-5300 APU 3.4 GHz, 8gb RAM, 1T HDD, Windows 10, Reaper 4.77, BIAB2018, PTPA12, RB2018, Roland VS-880 DAW

Having a bit of an issue.
Memory storage! My Surface Pro 2 model has a 128 GB SSD drive. With my apps too small to install all of BIAB. So I install a 64 GB microSDXC card (the biggest available). Still too small! So I have tried the various options of keeping content on the BIAB external drive - but honestly that doesnt work well for my workflow.
There may be a solution for me yet, but for now this is a bit of an issue. Just saying.
BIAB – 2026, Reaper (current), i7-12700F Processor, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, Motu Audio Express 6x6 - My SoundCloud.

Hi all. Well so far I have installed BB,RealBand a basic selection of Realtracks and also IK Multimedia Miroslav Philharmonic CE edition and all told its not used more than 10 gigs as far as I can make out. I have also added a 64GB microsd card to store mixes and arrangements on so that should last a while. As for playback,it has handled the instruments OK,no stuttering and has not crashed during BB use,so so far I am quite satisfied with the Surface for BB use. I shall write more when i've used it for a few weeks more. Cya.

If I know Ray, he's not only priced out the difference, he's also scoped out the lowest possible street price and also the price and availability from a coupla sources that should remain unmentioned in open conversation.

Like Mac said, I have done a little research on the Surface Pro 2. Prices range from $1359 to $1900 for the 512 GB HD model. What will decide for me is the need for a new machine. My wife likes my present laptop, so I may give it to her. I'll keep on reading the reviews. So far, the majority of reviews I've read are saying that it's a very good machine. What's next is to determine the reliability of all vendors who are offering discounts. Later, Ray

Hi all. Still doing OK with BB on Surface Pro 2,considering adding more of my Real tracks but routing them through the micro SD card to save space on the 'c' drive,be interesting to see how that goes. Incidentally my latest user showcase track, the waltz was written entirely on BB on the Surface and there were no problems during the arranging etc. Will update more in due course. Cya.

Another update. Reinstalled some Real tracks into my SD card on the Surface and pointed BB to find the correct folder and it works fine!! Also got the ms keyboard for the Surface so I can at last print BB scores properly as using the onscreen keyboard didn't let me select all the tracks to make into a full score. Anyway all sorted now and the keyboard works great! Cya.

I don't think I'd like one if it didn't have the keyboard. That, to me, would be a 'must have'.
Thanks for the updates, I appreciate them. I know a couple people running Visual Studio on these machines, including databases (for developing locally) and they like them. A lot. Funny note (to me) was while in a meeting a couple months back we pulled up a web app for review. One person commented that it was running pretty smoothly .. and the programmer said 'it's running from my tablet over there on the table'. The looks were priceless. It sounds more and more like the ultimate tablet (plus).
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

When I read that you had to also purchase a keyboard, I wondered whether one of those Tablet/Laptop conversion dealies might work out better in the long run.
Anybody have any handson with one of those and BB?

Hi. Yes I have BB on my surface and it works fine, through good headphones or a good amp it is excellent, tho as the Real tracks take up quite a lot of space I have only installed about 30% of mine to give me a reasonable selection.
More thoughts on my music experience with the Surface to follow in due course.
Cya.

Cya. May be a dumb question but not the computer geek here in the least . . . can you run BIAB from a portable hard drive on the surface? I am thinking while the external hard drive won't take up much room on a gig it will still let you run your show from the surface on, say a Mic Stand? Thanks for the updates. Later,
